Is Skateboarding a violent crime?

The kids shouldnt have ran, this is agree with, but IMO they shouldnt have been arrested for choosing to ride a skateboard rather than a bicycle.

Wow, what a tough-guy!!!!! Taking on helpless 13 year olds girls and boys. I don't care if he is a cop or not. Cops should also be in shape, that fat peice of $hit, couldn't even catch the kid he ran after!!!:rlaugh:

Go FBD. lol

My son is a skater. He broke his arm last Sunday. He was at a skate park though trying do learn a new stunt or... something....

There are more injuries in almost every other sport, but their biggest argument against skateboarding is people causing injuries to themselves.

If self-inflicted injuries are illegal, i shouldnt be working on my car anymore lol

I dont think its the injuries, I think it has to do with kids skating on private areas or places they arent allowed, and THEN getting hurt. Now you have a huge lawsuit on your hands. Believe it or not if the kid is skateboarding at your house without your consent, gets hurt its YOU who pays the price. Skateboarders are notorious for doing it anywhere and everywhere and a lot of times get badly injured. I don't skateboard but I think there should be places everywhere for them to go do it, without anyone being responsible for their health other than themselves. I didnt watch the video but can picture a loser fat a$$ cop going after little kids on boards... sounds like a real nice guy right there.

Without getting too into it........

First off, the video showed nothing of what the beginning of this was.

Secondly, if those punk kids would have just shut their mouths and not tried to be cocky little know-it-alls, they wouldn't be in that situation. I feel zero remorse for any of them. No one got beat, just arrested, not for skateboarding, but obstructing a peace officer. When an officer tells you to stop, you stop, when he tells you to be quiet, you be quiet.......it's REAL easy actually. I can tell you that if I was addressing a group of kids and asked them to stop so I could speak to them and the "ring leader" said "keep going guys, don't stop," I would be a little upset myself.

anyway, like I said, I don't want to get into it too far, it's not worth it....

Its been gone through in dpeth in the bananna hamock republic forum downstairs, i posted this in both places though because i wanted to see waht responses i would get out of each forum... this one being a younger crowd for the most part, and the hammock being an older crowd.

I got the responses i expected for the most part :nice:

Far as I'm concerned, both sides were being buttholes about it. Skater kids (especially nowadays) tend to be obnoxious punks that instigate confrontations, then back off and say, "I didn't do anything! What? I was just standing here!" We used to have a bunch of skater punks that jammed up and down the sidewalk at the Checker Auto I worked at (in the middle of a strip mall), and every other friggin' time you'd walk out the door to deal with some customer's car or help carry something out, you'd get plowed into by some dumbass on a skateboard that was flying by. Additionally, these idiots that think skateboards are a mode of transportation throughout the city are just as obnoxious, because they're zipping out from behind parked cars in lots and on streets and such, and then they blame motorists for being inattentive wheneve they get run over.

On the other hand, gung-ho cops and security guards that power-trip on their status let it go to their head, so then they pull Über-dick scenes like in the above video. He was grabbing people right and left (use of force), throwing them around (another use of force), applying wrist locks when "suspects" weren't even resisting (yet another use of force), and spouting off nonsense about "resisting arrest" when all the camera guy had been doing was standing there with a video camera, documenting what an A-hole the guy was being.

I dunno. I pretty much loathe skater kids and macho cops, equally. :notnice:

you win.

I hope the kids are doing community service. I cant stand people skating down crowded sidewalks nor can I stand bikers with their nut hugging shorts riding 10 wide down the middle of the road not giving a **** about the cars around them. I hope a mysterious clothes line comes out of no where and rips them off their bikes.

The next thing i want to ask for statistical reasons....

How many of you have ever been into, or even on a skateboard?

Im just trying to get a feel for the skating population on the forums
