Does anyone have any pics of our cars painted in Flat Black?

i like the side shot rather than the front of that car. i thought it looked amazing till i saw the front.

about the flat black, i'd have to see a car with it done. i think it could go either way, but as long as it is done professionally it should look okay. i just think of trash cars when i see flat black, like ricers that can't afford to paint their body kits just primer the thing.

Those slr mclarens are niiiiiiice.

I remember being downtown (charleston, sc) and walking down the street on a friday night...and heard a loud ass car. I looked and saw an 03-04 cobra...and then right beside it was the mclaren. Then I kept walking down the street and saw the car parked and had to gawk over it haha. I talked to the owner too, he was pretty cool. Definitely one of the nicest cars I've seen going down the street. It was a black one..not the flat/charcoal color but a deep, glossy black.

Food for thought: Most car's paint job is the most noticeable thing on it...if you make it less noticeable, then you have to upgrade something else to make a good balance.

A brand new v-6 car rolling out of the factory with all it's hubcap glory and stripped down accessories will "disagree" with your comment. The paint is at it's best.... but it's the WHOLE car that makes it or breaks it. Another for instance.... I've seen a flat black primered truck with rust around the fender wells. Throw on a nice wheel/tire combo, you can still turn heads.

Really it's true of about anything in life. Think about a woman.... big knockers are good. But are they as good in your opinion on a 500lb woman? It's really all a matter of opinion. Some people don't care about the outside, some only care what's on the inside. Back to cars, we call those "sleepers". For women they are usually called "beer goggle girls". :rlaugh: But fact of the matter is "someone" will like them.

Thought of a cool twist on this...

flat black (with the charcoal tint) from the body line of the 94-98, the body line that is right below the side mirror's. Then gloss black from there up with a red pinstripe at the boarder, add some red fog light lenses as well as a lowered stance on 18in rims with a S281 wing, cobra or saleen bumper, side exh/side exh. side molding, and a 96-98 cobra hood...devils ride....

I have thought about doing some flat black stripes or pearl stripes when I repaint the car...now that I am thinking about it. Why not something like the black on black mach1's only in reverse, with a flat black main color and gloss stripes.

It would be interesting to see what the reverse would look like as you mentioned. I wish Ford would have done silver or some other more noticeable accents on the black Mach 1's. My brother's is black and it's really tough to see the accents. To see the side molding labels you have to look for them. I didn't notice them on the car until he pointed them out to me.

'70 Mach I's had a white stripe option. Not the most attractive thing ever.

'71-'73 any Mustang ordered with a ram-air hood and black paint got a silver accented hood. This looks tacky when the silver on the hood is the only silver on the car.

I like the black '03-'04 Machs. They're sleepers. I don't think silver accents would look right, cause the wing would also be silver.

Only if you have everyone in town's attractive cousin wearing a bikini riding in the bed. Yee-Haw!!!

Actually that's part of the point. The same truck wouldn't attract the attractive cousin. The nice wheel/tire combo can in a "town". So it's all a matter of opinion and who's you want, and who's you care about.

I would be willing to guess if a thread lived in a SLR forum about painting one of their cars flat black, the would get "some" opposition. Then there would be fewer once it was done, and the picture we are looking at was posted up. :p

I agree that a silver wing would be :ack:

The black look is certainly a sleeper, especially if the opposing ride doesn't know jack about mustangs except what a v6 emblem looks like.

I'm not really sure what they could have done differently, but if I had my choice of Mach 1 and cared about the decals, I wouldn't want a black one.
