HELP!

I'm stuck at a friends house, and the stang won't start. I have a 2005 mustang GT that is having issues, you hear it trying to get started but it bogs out and dies. Since I'm almost 40 minutes from home I don't have my tuner with me. Guess I'm going to have to start bringing that with me. I've tried a few times to get it running but it keeps dying. Could a fuel filter really become clogged with only 38k miles? I've only used Chevron gas in it since I bought it new back in Nov 2004, and have pretty light modifications, as compared to a lot of people on here. IE air filter, custom x-pipe and flowmasters. I have had this issue once, but it started up within a few minutes, and never had the issue again. Any help would be appreciated.

Maybe the Fuel Pump Shut-off Switch needs reset. It's located in the Drivers side footwell, by the hood release. The manual says turn the key off, check for leaks, reset the button, turn the key on, check for leaks wait a few seconds then turn it on and check for leaks again. Then try to start it.

If that doesn't work, unhook the battery for about 20 minutes and try reconnecting it and starting it then. One of the two should fix ya up.

alright, tried the fuel pump reset, no luck there, hope the battery deal works, the motor starts cranking and I've tried feeding it fuel, it chugs a lil more and sounds like it's about to catch,then dies...

It has gas in it right?

See if it is getting fuel pressure. There should be a shraeder valve on one of the fuel rails, turn the jey on and stick a key in there like you're letting air out of a tire. AFuel should spray out strong. This is not an acurate test, but ti could point you to whether or not you have fuel at least.

3V motors dont have a schrader valve. they are a returnless style fuel system.

alright, the battery thing worked, although the motor was still bogging pretty bad, I was able to keep the rpm's steady for a good 10 minutes before driving it off. I've still got the problem when starting it up and going, however. Once it's running it's no issue. It's simply a matter of keeping the rpm's up for about 30 seconds during the initial warm up. The neighbors are really loving me now. Gonna look at it next time I get a chance, I've reflashed it with the brenspeed tune I have, and I have no reason to suspect it to be a bad tune, since I've been using that for over a year. Maybe an O2 sensor? I dunno... guess I'll plug in the Xcal this evening and find out what it says. Thanks so far for the help.

Reload the stock tune. Call brenspeed and have a new tune resent.

+1 sounds like something has gone wrong with your tune....or the tune has just now affected something.

I think that the fuel filter is supposed to be changed every 30,000 miles. It's not the gasoline that necessitates the change. It's the crud that accumulates in the gas stations' tanks. I think the station pumps have filters, but some crud could still make its way into your gas tank, and then to you car's fuel filter.

Yeah fuel filters are not for filtering the gas...it's for filtering the BS that's in most stations tanks which happens to be IN the gas, heh.

Running lower octane gas does not make your filter crud up sooner than higher octane as some insta-lube shops might try to tell you. (my comments are nearly irrelevant to the topic though...wth?)

hey my 05 gt just had the same problem except mine was just a bs chip installed on the car before i bought it.. i just had them take it out and put in a stock one no problems as of yet.. im looking for a replacement cai and tuner now..

Check all your vacuum lines as well. Make sure nothing has come loose. It sounds like there could be a vacuum leak somewhere causing you to lose pressure.
