has anyone ever put a column from 87-89 on their 90-93 mustand and used 90-93 steering wheel? just wondering if it woul look stupid or not? post pics if you have

You mean you want both a tilt column and an airbag?

I'm not sure that's safe. I'm sure they had a good reason for not keeping the tilt column when they started using airbags...

I think the only issue would be rewireing the older colum for an air bag. If newer cars have tilt and an air bag, why can't we?

I won't be replacing the airbags in the car so I won't need to wire anything. If I remember right the column on 89 is round and column on 90 is square? Just wondering how that would look?

it wont fit. if you want tilt there are several people that have swapped a 94/5 column into their car. I am not sure what is involved in the swap so I cant comment on it. It is something that i wanted to do to my 93 for the longest time though.

94+ stuff mounts to the dash itself. the older ones mount to the firewall, dash support. 2 completely different designs. Also there is a bearing in the firewall on the 94+ cars that you need to take into consideration for proper steering control....

be gone ugly airbag.... I swapped the 89 column into my 91 and bought a momo monte carlo wheel... ahhh, modern looking interiors.... I now wear my seat belt all the time.

i did the opposite i swapped an airbag and non tilt column into my 87 i don't like the tilt style wheels.i wanted a stock look though

Their good reason was that Ford was lazy and didn't want to take the time to design a new tilt column with the new airbag.
