07 GT Vs 99+ Camaro SS or Z28

Don't fear the LS1s too much. I've done well enough against modded and unmodded LS1s at my track. I'm modded of course, but when you go to the track often who isn't? When I line up against an LS1 it generally comes down to who can launch and maintain traction the best. Unless it is a...

    Who's paying over 60K?

If you are willing to wait, and just order a GT500 through a dealership can you expect to pay MSRP? Or will they still add a dealer markup to it?

will 4.10's rev to fast in a auto?

Awesome, but I will share my perspective. I have a maunal, and I upgraded to only 3.73s because I feared the gear.....turns out 3.73s were just not enough and I went in and had 4.10s done. I could not be happier! Furthermore I am in the Army and have since been stationed in the Germany...

    Hurst Shifter..."Notchamatic"

My shifter was notchy enough that I couldn't get it into 3rd a couple times when the car was under load at the track my times suffered for it. That was when the shifter was brand new though. I will see how it performs when the track opens up, and I am also installing some CHE torque limiters...

    4.30s in, WOW

500 miles is a pretty good rule of thumb. The important thing is to let the gears go through several complete heat cycles. Meaning getting them warmed up, and letting them cool off completely.

0-60 with 4.10's much faster? I think so.

I have all the mods in my sig and I am pulling and average of 4.82 0-60 mph times as reported by my Escort Passport GT2. Also according to the GT2 my 60' times are right about 2.0 +/- 0.05, but that is when I launch perfectly of course. I am running 235/55-17 Hankook Icebear snow tires, and...

First 10 Second M6 GTO in the USA! Doc!!! VIDEO ADDED

Congrats man  Those pesky autos are always slower out of the factory, but damnit if they don't have more potential when you start putting in those higher stall TCs. What rwhp and rwtq are you putting down?

    Royal Purple

+1. I use Royal Purple Motor Oil, and when I did my gears I made sure I had Royal Purple put into the differential. It tends to be expensive, but you get what you pay for in this case.

    My car is slow!

I had a similar problem, but I spoke with my tuner (bamachips) and he readjusted my tune for me. After I first installed the delete plates, I was running about .1-.2 slower and about 1 mph slower at my track even when we had a much more favorable DA than normal. Doug@Bama played with the...

    DYING OUT

Unfortunately just about everything that can be said about the GT500 at the moment has been said about the GT500. As far as I can tell most dealer markups are still $10,000+.

CAI Intake w/ tune gains optimistic?

Like I mentioned before, I unfortunately adapt to my car too quickly for my enjoyment. I never had to relearn to drive the car, even after I installed the 4.10s. It is just a curse that keeps me buying more go fast parts. :bang:

WTF Neon! Can a GT beat one!?!?!!

Yes a GT can beat a SRT-4.... However, any car that is running boost and weighs under 3000 lbs is a real potential threat because it is way too easy to turn up the boost, and it is a really light car to begin with. That is just simply a great recipe for some very low power to weight ratios...

CAI Intake w/ tune gains optimistic?

A couple thoughts on this. First the guy with GT/CS was only giving you a seat-of-the-pants review. Which should should only be taken with a grain of salt unless he has a dyno graph to back it up. Some people are just more receptive to changes in a cars performance than others...

    gears...

My gas mileage went down about 2mpg. I used to get 21.5 mpg on mixed city and highway driving, and going up and down hills. Now I get 19.5 mpg.

Help Please - CMRC delete or ???

Personally I would go with the UDPs as well. You will get more out of them than the delete plates. Not only do they get you more power at the wheels, the engine builds rpms faster. But to answer your question the delete plates are easy to install. Even with no experience I think you...

    gears...

4.10s are definitely useable in a daily driving sense. At first, I was really concerned about traction in 1st gear and the general useability of 1st gear, but after pulling the trigger I realized there was nothing to worry about. Maintaining traction in 1st is no problem and 1st gear doesn't...

would this car be ok to buy??....

Definitely stay away from the flood car. I am also with Jenn on doing some searches..... Unless you are specifically looking for a S197 style Mustang GT you can find plenty of 96-99 Ford Mustang Cobras for well under $20K and they all fairly similar in performance (all are 300hp+ stock)...

    Auto, 4.10 gears dyno...

+1 on the 3rd gear being the wrong gear.. Also, did you mean to type 253 ft-lbs of torque or 283 ft-lbs? Because with your set up your engine should have more peak torque than peak horsepower. This could also be because of the 3rd gear dyno. You should only be loosing around 5 or 6 hp...
