    Engine Top End Kit Install

For peace of mind I'd degree the cam (assuming a new cam is part of the top end kit) and verify pushrods are the correct length. In order to do these you'll need a degree wheel, a dial indicator and some way to hold it in place (magnetic base works ok but they also make fixtures to align the...

    Code 41 And 91 Won't Go Away

Update..... still have the codes. I am covninced I do not have any vacuum leaks. Ive been driving it around a little bit lately and noticed the CEL only comes on during highway type driving and only after accelerating. I think this could be a "not enough fuel" problem instead of a "too much air"...

    Code 41 And 91 Won't Go Away

93SSP, I owe you a case of beer! Your paint can reminded me that I had a vacuum container I made out of a pickle jar somewhere in my garage. I wadded up a bunch of newspaper, lit it on fire, hooked everything up and waited. I saw smoke coming from around the EGR valve. I took the EGR valve...

    Code 41 And 91 Won't Go Away

I didn't know that. But yes, the battery cable was disconnected because I was also chasing a drain on the battery.

    Code 41 And 91 Won't Go Away

Replaced both O2 sensors, brought the car up to operating temperature, and ran the KOER. STILL GOT 41 AND 91!!!! Help please...

    Code 41 And 91 Won't Go Away

I've been thinking about that the last few days. From what I understand, lower O2 readings indicate a lean condition. When I created an obviously rich condition (by unplugging the ECT and ACT) the codes went away, meaning the O2s work in the upper range of the voltage. Which all leads back to an...

    Code 41 And 91 Won't Go Away

Yes, they were fluctuating between .1 and .6. I've tried to rule out everything that could lead to a lean condition.

    Code 41 And 91 Won't Go Away

I had some time so I re-did the test. (I did it about 6 months ago, too.) Resistance between the O2 connector and the EEC connector is almost non-existent (0.4 ohms on a 200 ohm scale). I couldn't get a pin in the EEC connector so measure voltage on pin 29 and 43, so I measured it at the O2...

    Code 41 And 91 Won't Go Away

I will do the test, but want to make sure that by disconnecting ECT and ACT and having 41 and 91 codes go away, that I didn't prove the O2 sensors are working?

    Code 41 And 91 Won't Go Away

Well, that's good. My fuel pressure regulator is working as it should, then. While I am still examining the fuel half of the equation, can I assume that since I got 40 psi of fuel (FPR unplugged and capped) at all RPM under 2000, that my fuel pump and fuel filter are working as designed? If so...

    Code 41 And 91 Won't Go Away

Should I get a replacement FPR? It ran 40 psi during the last KOER (vacuum unplugged and capped) and I still got 41 and 91.

    Code 41 And 91 Won't Go Away

1988 CA GT, all stock, 97K miles. Get 11 KOEO and 11 CM, but get 41 and 91 KOER I've methodically done every test I can think of and I can't figure out why I am getting 41 and 91. I've been chasing this for almost a year. During that year, I did all the wiring tests for the O2 sensors and...

Anyone Familiar With A Breakout Box?

In addition to performing the tests outlined in the PCED, I swapped in a known good distributor (known good TFI and PIP), and the car did the same thing. So, I am looking at getting a EEC I can swap out. I found an 8LG locally for a good price. According to a post found by Noobz347, the 8LG...

    Eec Compatibility

Thanks for the answers, but now I wonder why. If you can run an A9P (or A9L) in a later car, why cant a later EEC in an earlier car? The earlier car has no mods (88 California GT).

    Eec Compatibility

Will a EEC from a 94 or 95, like a W4HO, work in a 88-93 Mass Air car that originally had an A9P?

Anyone Familiar With A Breakout Box?

Its a Mass Air car. I can't remember the computer code off the top of my head. If I understand your post correctly, the 8LD and 8LF EEC's can be used for both Mass Air and for Speed Density????

I may be able to borrow one. It will be a few days, but I'll post results.

Anyone Familiar With A Breakout Box?

Here's an update..... It still doesn't work. I ran a wire directly from the TFI to the EEC, and it still won't start and run unless timing is advanced 30*. I'm out of ideas. Im thinking it has to be something electrical that just took a dump. There was no build up, no warnings, or anything like...

Anyone Familiar With A Breakout Box?

Did the test today. I disconnected the PIP wire from the TFI connector, ran the test and had voltage within the acceptable range. I found out the PIP voltage originates at the TFI, not the EEC. Anyway, according to the PCED, there is a problem with the a PIP between the TFI connector and the EEC...

Anyone Familiar With A Breakout Box?

Yah, I didn't mean zero resistance. Let me rephrase.... its the same amount of resistance I get when I touch the probes together, which on my meter is 0.03-0.06 ohms (when the meter is set to 20ohms resistance). I know the number displayed may not be entirely accurate, but like I said I get the...
