    Help? Got rear-ended!

Yep, but I might see if I can get aftermarket pipes instead of replacement stock and doing an FRPP power pack. Make some lemonade out of this lemon :nice:

    Help? Got rear-ended!

BTW- Another quick question. At the dealer they warned me not to drive it any more (I had already arranged a rental car pickup, so that wasn't an issue) because of the damage to my exhaust (warps and bends) might cause valve problems. I drove it the 5 or so miles home, then another 5 miles to...

    Help? Got rear-ended!

To be clear, I don't have any final quotes yet. Just going off hunches and a knowledge of how very expensive body work is in my area. Vin

    Help? Got rear-ended!

Gotcha, thanks Big Cat. The car is already parked at the dealer, and given that there is exhaust damage (they say i could crack a valve) it will stay there. But I will see if he can email me some pix. I understand that in this state most of the estimate process is handled with digital pix back...

    New Roush Suspension pack

hey, I had not looked in awhile and I see that Roush has a new suspension kit for mustangs: http://store.roushperformance.com/detail.aspx?ID=1070 Probably old news to all the other enthusiasts here. It more expensive, does not include the stabilizer bars. Anybody put this on? Any...

    Help? Got rear-ended!

I think my damage may be a bit more severe. The floor of the trunk is completely buckled up, there are dimpled welds all over the rear end, and there is _minor_ warping on the side pillar behind the door. The guy who is working on it runs the body shop at the dealer. The dumbass 'cleanup'...

    Help? Got rear-ended!

Hey- thanks. That really sets my mind at ease. I think there was one area where the guy was talking about welding in sections- under the trunk. It makes sense that welding in new metal will be just as good as original, and you don;t have to worry about loss of rigidity from fatigue. Vin

    Help? Got rear-ended!

Stay with me folks, I promise this is a tech topic, it just needs set-up. Well, my specially ordered every-option 2008 black GT mustang dream car got rear ended the other night by a teenage girl driving her pappys 40k Audi. The Good news is the Audi was likely totaled and my Stang drove home...

PROBLEM WITH FINISH ON 2007 GT FACTORY WHEELS

Find another dealer. You are not obligated to take your car to the dealer that sold you, and other dealerships, if they are smart, will think of it as an opportunity to secure a customer for future purchases.

what does a clay bar do?

Hi: Doesn't polishing take off micro-thin layers of paint/clearcoat? If so, shouldn't there be only so many times you polish your car in its lifetime? Vin

    Sealant help!?

hey, No problem! More info the better! Yep, I used the two bucket method. And yeah, I think you are probably right about the spiderwebbing coming from the cheap towels... But I also strongly suspect the dealer wipe-down... It was covered with a lot of gritty dust from the haul up, and if they...

    Sealant help!?

Hi All: I took home my awesome 08 just about 2-3 weeks ago, and I have been having non-stop fun learning its ins-and-outs and working slowly up to its limits. Amazing car. People who think US automakers are 'dead' and can't create a 'top notch car' should take one of these home for a week...

How to modify for Road Racing

Thanks! Not that I have anything against the drag racing mods, but its awesome to hear from the road course side, as that is the direction I will be headin with my mods.

    Premier Trim Package

BTW, Roush has some nice carbon-fiber cover-pieces that look pretty durable and might cover over the last of that unloved plastic. Not really my cup of tea, but typically Roush puts out quality. No experience with them personally, but it might be something you'd like. If I keep this one for a...

    Premier Trim Package

Yeah, I ordered mine too. My work has a Ford x-plan benefit, which lands the price right about at invoice. No better than what you could get with good dedicated haggling, but this way I could order exactly what I wanted and nothing else. Dealers tend not to want to haggle much on factory orders...

    Tire, Wheel and brake questions.

jlisle: How did you find a track/class/instructor whatever? I found (but not in my area) track courses that have a stock of 'learner' (honda CRXs and such) cars that they take you out in and give you lessons in- that would be ideal for me... I'd like to 'work up' to actually subjecting my car to...

    Premier Trim Package

Hi: I have that upgrade, and I really like it. It takes away from that 'Hi, I'm a plastic minivan interior!' Look-and-feel of the base-line interior. The single biggest problem with American cars is the interior, in my opinion. Every darn Ford or GM I have owned in the last 1.5 decades had...

    Failed tune flash?

Tommyroc, Sycd, Kooldawg - thanks! Sycd: Thanks for the heads up on the tuner. Until the car is off warranty, I will be having the dealer do most of the work. After warranty, I'll probably get more aggressive with the mods and maybe start taking it to the track, and buy a second car for Daily...
