Everytime I hook up the vacuum advance hose to the distro from the carb, the engine starts to run like crap. I disconnect it, and plug the ports and it runs great. Any thoughts? Is this even a problem?

Well, I think I may have fixed my problem. Amongst other things, I found a vacuum port that wasn't plugged. I think the plug must have shot off of it, because I know I put one on.

Just because you didn't take them loose, doesn't guarantee that the timing is correct. Let's say however that it is. Battery got a good charge?
