cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

Most of the time you have to get special headers for the gt40p heads ($$$). You can run 1.6 or 1.7 rockers on gt40 heads, but why would you want to run 1.6? 1.7 ratio will give you more power and have less friction since they are roller rockers. You shouldn't have any piston to valve...

cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

Sorry about the typo, I meant 1.7 ratio. E7 heads are way more plentiful, but that's because they were on a lot of applications. Since aluminum heads are pretty cheap, that has brought the price down on gt40 heads. I just bought a set that were ready to run for under $250 shipped. The OP...

cylinder heads for daily driver - kinda long -sorry

Why hasn't anyone mentioned the gt40 heads? These are a great bolt on mod. I'm using a stock H.O. cam with cobra roller rockers (1.6 ratio) and gt40 heads. These heads really aren't that expensive and will outflow ported 289 heads.

    Type-F ATF Equivalent or Replacement???

I bought 10 quarts at O'reilly's a couple of months ago. If you can't find it locally then order it online.

    Borgeson Box install

My car went to the paint shop right after I got my borgeson box, but I can't wait to find out how it drives once I get the car back.

Vacum Lines on C4 - where do they go?

The first one is a vent/drain if I remember correctly. You should only have one vacuum line running to the modulator.

    Unisteer or Borgeson

I recently bought the borgeson unit, but I haven't installed it yet so I can't really give any input.

How many miles are on the car? Auto or manual? Post up a bunch of interior and exterior pics. What options does it have?

    rearend swap

I bought a complete 1990 ex highway patrol car for $350 and it had a low mileage 5.0, 5 speed, and this rear. I'm in the process of installing everything in my car before it goes to the paint shop. The explorer rear is definitely offset and can cause problems. There are some people getting...

what engine for my next project

There are advantages to both the 351c and the 5.0. The 5.0 can be stroked pretty cheap compared to the cleveland, but the cleveland is capable of more power and has a stronger block than the 5.0. You can stroke a cleveland to a 377, 383, 393, 396, 408, 416, and 426. I have even seen one...

    rearend swap

I'm doing a fox body 8.8 in mine right now. I'm upgrading my axles from the 4 lug 28 spline to 5 lug 31 spline. It has a trac loc and 3.07 (?) gears so I am going to re-gear it to 3.73 and keep the trac loc. Cutting off the coil stuff and welding on spring perches is super easy, and it is the...

    Yet ANOTHER cam/head question

Thanks for the input! With the engines I've built in the past I've usually just ran what the machine shop told me to do, but on the last one I built I was VERY disappointed with the results and figured I'd be better off figuring it out myself. That's one of the reasons I was planning on...

    Yet ANOTHER cam/head question

I don't mind spending the money as long as it's something that will work well. I definitely don't want to end up buying something only to replace it because I'm unhappy with it. I basically got lucky with the block/bottom end not needing anything more than a hone job and a crank polish, so...

    Yet ANOTHER cam/head question

LOL I guess it's just wishful thinking on my part. I guess I keep seeing those damn articles saying you can get 400hp with a stock cam just by changing to AFR heads and good headers. Would some ported GT40s be a decent gain over the stock E7s? I've been waiting to find some answers before I...

    Yet ANOTHER cam/head question

I have a 1990 5.0 h.o. that I'm putting in my 64.5 coupe. I've asked in vintage forums but nobody can answer my questions. What I have done so far is do a basic re-ring and new bearing rebuild after I brought my block to a machine shop and it turned out to be in near perfect shape. I...

    Compression problems, please help

I had a bent valve issues once. The piston looked fine until I took it out and I saw it was broken under the oil ring... I would hope it's either a blown headgasket or valve lash is too tight. Personally I would take all of the rockers off and pull the plugs, then use a compression gauge on...

    Hoods

I have the 67 style shelby hood on my 64.5. It's from K.A.R. and I really like how little work it needed to fit correctly.
