    408w Timing

DYNO RESULTS...We dyno'ed my car today. Its a 408W with AFR 205 heads and FTI HR cam through a C6 Trans. First pull was 391RWHP. We then setup the MSD distributor to run the timing "locked out" with total advance around 31 degrees, no start retard. Cranked right up, no issues and pulled 411...

    408w Timing

Thank you for the information. I only have about 200 miles on the motor but I believe I have a timing issue as the motor "breaks up" at certain RPMs and seems down on power. I'm going to get it dyno tuned so we'll see where I end up, locked out timing or not. Also, no vacuum advance on the...

    408w Timing

I have a 408W with AFR 205 heads, an FTI cam, Vic Jr intake, custom carb, etc. Someone recommended that I run my distributor (MSD) with the timing locked out as it would improve performance even though the car is primarily street driven. Anyone run their distributor with the timing locked out...

    Won't start. Flooding. Carb?

Put a fuel pressure guage on and check the pressure when cranking. I have also seen an issue with a new condensor. I had a new one bad out of the box. Try replacing it or having it checked.

    66 Mustang Restoration

The wheels are 16X7 in Front and 16X8 Rear. The Tires are BF Goodrich g-Force Super Sport A/S. I went with 16's since that was the smallest diameter wheel that would fit given the rotor size on my brake kit. I wanted 15's but the 16's seem to look good. I don't like the look of too much wheel...

    66 Mustang Restoration

Thank you for the kind words. Car is up north in Pa. and my ability to get pictures is limited by what my father sends me. Car was on its way to the alignment shop that day. I have more pictures but keep in mind they were taken earlier in the restoration. The hood scoop was installed because...

3 Point Seatbelts in a Coupe

I noticed that several vendors sell 3 point seat belts for 66 coupes. I am wondering if anyone has tried them and how has it worked out? I am considering installing a set in my car. I'm planning to keep the stock seats so are there any other options I should consider? Thanks for your response.

    408W Fuel System

I have a stroked 351 to 408W carbureted, with a 23x/24x cam, Vic Jr, headers, etc....Just wondering what others with this engine are doing for a fuel pump. Would a mechanical pump be sufficient or should I go with an electric fuel pump? If mechanical, what would be a good one to use? Some think...

    351W Stroker Oil Pan

I have a 351W Stroker (408ci). What is everyone using for an oil pan? I'm looking for a rear sump/T sump large capacity pan for use in my '66. TIA.

    351W Build

Engine is just being finished up now. The C6 is not in yet. The shop dropping in the motor and trans put a 460 Big block and C6 in a '66 Fastback a while back so they're not expecting anything they can't deal with. They typically like to fab up whatever they need to make things work...

    AFR 205s Chamber Size

I really appreaciate all the responses to my questions as my restoration/engine build proceeds. I'm now at the point where I need to purchase the rotating assy and heads. I'm looking to do a 408W stroker w/ AFR 205 heads. I'm wondering what chamber size I should go with, the 58cc or the 72cc...

    408W Rotating Assy Balance

It's my understanding that the 351W uses an external balance weight to balance the rotating assy. I am seriously considering having the rotating assy. internally balanced so I don't have to run external balance weights. Has anyone here done this? TIA

    351W block, Roller cam

What does it take to convert a standard (flat tappet) 351W block to use an HR cam? Is there any machine work involved? Or just parts? TIA

    351W Build

Guess I'll have to check with my builder. I was considering just doing a 351W non-stroker to hold down costs although a 408W would be nice. Given that the engine is going into the 66 I don't really need to go overboard on the torque and HP. But if the cost differential isn't that much, might...

    351W Build

I'm looking to have a 351W built for my 66 Mustang. Plan is it will be mostly street/some strip use. Looking for 400+ HP with maybe a small shot of N2O on top of that. The top end will be AFR heads w/ a custom cam. But, for the shortblock, I'm wondering if there are any "must do" items as...
