    Stock fuel pump ate it

Quick update, the pump relay and connector had become one...in the biblical sense. The whole mess shorted and fused together, bought a new relay and connector, cut and spliced the whole mess and cleaned it up...the new pump is humming away now. Lesson learned, check the little things first.

    Stock fuel pump ate it

Before I started all this I did the jumper test with the diagnostic connector to see if I could get anything from the pump and nada, I've now repaired the baffle, assembled and installed the new pump, and still nada. My fuses are all good so now I'm wondering about these "fuse links" mentioned...

    Stock fuel pump ate it

I've got the JB weld, a long handled scrub brush, and a quart of acetone...all bases covered but one, trying to figure out the orientation of the baffle, does the oval port run laterally (back to from in the tank) and which end is the forward end? It has what appears to be two brackets on it but...

    Stock fuel pump ate it

I finally dropped the tank to replace the pump and once I got the tank drained and removed I can't help to notice there seems to be something loud and and heavy banging around in the tank, when I looked through the port where the pump goes I see something that looks like a pan or tray sliding...

    Stock fuel pump ate it

In the midst of running errands the other day I ran her down to E, I mean she quite literally chugged and died at the pump. I filled her up, she started, ran rough, chugged for a few seconds, and died. She wont restart and I don't hear the pump cycling when I turn the key to ON now so it's my...

    Timing retard=engine running hot/high NOx?

Alright, I'm about fed up with the shop at this point so I'll call them and tell them to get her ready to be picked up. I wont at all be surprised it she suddenly doesn't run when I go to pick her up (followed by an offer to diagnose that as well if I'll leave the car there).

    Timing retard=engine running hot/high NOx?

Well where I'm lost is I ran clean and passed the emissions portion with flying colors UNTIL they retarded the timing and repaired all the emissions equipment. If the shop can be believed, the timing was advanced 12* so they reset it back to stock and they repaired the damaged and missing lines...

    Timing retard=engine running hot/high NOx?

Nothing? I just had new cats installed, installed a new set of bbk unequal shorties, did a tune up and when I brought her in she ran clean...passed with flying colors. Apparently the timing was advanced 12* so they reset the timing back to stock, replaced the vacuum lines and repaired the...

    Timing retard=engine running hot/high NOx?

Without posting a long rambling thread the short version is I took the mustang in for a smog, ended up getting failed because the timing was off and the previous owner had destroyed most of the charcoal canister lines and etc. The shop finally sorted it all out and now with the equipment all in...

    Steering vibration at speed

Once reaching road speeds I get a fair amount of vibration from the front end, I just replaced my rack assy and my outer tie-rod ends as well as my rotors, bearings, etc. While I was down there I checked out the rag joint and it looks fairly new, so my question is what else might be the culprit...

Shifter and Rack and Pinion assy replacement?

I tried the pickle fork when the puller failed and had no luck there either, but like I said the hammer method worked just fine. Impressive write-up there though, somebody needs to copy+paste and sticky that for the future. I agree on the new rack, I purchased the "performance rack" (2.25 turns...

Shifter and Rack and Pinion assy replacement?

Got the suspension parts torn apart, just trying to get the steering rack out now...but that'll have to wait until tomorrow when it's light out. Two flashlights and a work light aren't cutting it. I'll have to look at it again in the morning as well, I pulled several screws out of the armrest...

Shifter and Rack and Pinion assy replacement?

I'm in the middle of trying to replace my rack, the old one is leaking and I wanted a faster ratio rack. The problem is separating my spindle from the ball joint, I put my 3 jaw puller on to break it loose but the puller keeps jumping off, I've done this on a few other cars without this problem...
