    Both the V6 and V8 05/06 have hydraulic clutch release systems. No dif between 05 & 06 and not much between the V6&V8 either.Either would be easier on your hip than your 98( a cable release)

    There is a loss of fun-factor with an auto even though they are more consistent. If it is a drag -only car and you gotta win, maybe an auto is best for you.     Bells to the motor are the same. The T56 has a separate bell so be sure to get that with the"kit" as the T45 bell is integral to the trans.( it only mates the mod motor to a T45)

    Breaking 3 shift forks and 3 synchros is not atrans problem , its a driver problem. You will never fix that at a dealer unless you sell it . They make autos for drivers like you( and my mom). The shift probles here are not what you describe.

    Shorter throw = higher shift efforts. The Tri ax also has higher centerinl load, as most aftermarket shifters do. This makes for a very uncomfortable daily-driver shift. Couple that with the grossly added noise and it is just plain a bad mod.( IMO)
