" Ooh F**k!, Ooh s**t! The universal words heard behind the camera.

Really ... wow I guess I should've read the manual ... duh. Wrong! It kicks itself back on without telling you no matter what. Screwed me on many autocross runs, even when I did the 5 second deal. It has something to do with the ABS module. You can either put a BOSS 302 ABS module in or...

" Ooh F**k!, Ooh s**t! The universal words heard behind the camera.

One of the reasons I no longer have my 2014 Mustang is the traction control system. I like to screw around and get the car out of sorts, just part of what I do on a deserted road with a few bends. It goes like this. Turn in - hammer gas - rear end out - counter steer - click, whir - car...

    SVE DUAL FANS

When I got my car, the dumbass previous owner had it controlled by a manual switch. I got a simple controller and installed it. A few weeks later the AC blew out. Doh. If you have AC, make sure to hook that up and ignore the advice of those that don't. I solved the problem by going with the...

Build Thread '83 T-top Coupe - Welding Holes in My Rear

Sorry Dave. I'm in the same situation. We have an apartment and are moving back and forth to leave the kids at the house for the remainder of the school year. It sucks. I will probably sell my 2014 GT to get something reliable and family friendly. My Excursion requires too much effort for...

    86 Mystery Mods Progress!

I haven't read all the responses, but your car seems to be in the condition that mine was. The checklist mentioned by Noobz a couple pages back took me quite a while to get through, but eventually got my engine running/idling smooth. Also, be careful not to run your AC without the fan running...

What's it take to "Track" a car?

All you need is a good running car. Brakes are the most important thing. They will fade if they don't have good quality fluid and pads that are better than Autozone discount. Tires should be in decent shape, but certainly don't have to be good sticky tires. In fact, there will be less wear...

    Windshield Frame Rust Repair?

Just to follow up and end the thread. I got the windshield in the day before Thanksgiving and used the truck for a little Thanksgiving travel. It was a bit of a last minute flail to make it happen. I tried to hurry the process by painting coats to thick and not waiting long enough between coats...

    Windshield Frame Rust Repair?

I looked at the backside today. Problem is, there's another layer of metal under the parts with the holes. I filled it with the JB weld steelstick. I created a 2" long section to try and make sure it stays intact. I can tell my welcome is wearing thin at my buddy's garage, so gotta get it...

    Windshield Frame Rust Repair?

Yeah, I was worried about welding that. Especially with the welding skill level I have available to me. I don't think I'll quite be able/have time to fabricate a replacement part, but I'll paint some rust converter on the underside and fill the holes with something. JB Weld?

    Windshield Frame Rust Repair?

Blasted the frame. It came out pretty good except this one spot. @Davedacarpainter, what should I do about these? Can I just fill them, or do I need to break out a welder?

    Windshield Frame Rust Repair?

It looked worse than it wound up being. I didn't have the installer take the glass out because I had to arrange a place to do the work if it was rusted through. The rust was going under the adhesive in multiple places. Fortunately, it's better than I expected. I was expecting to have to take...

    Windshield Frame Rust Repair?

Well, I'm thinking about it now. I found a cheapo HF one I can borrow today. Still puts me behind my desired schedule :bang: But, I prefer to do it right. I think it will be up to the guy with the garage it's in how much longer I'm welcome

    Windshield Frame Rust Repair?

@Davedacarpainter This is the worst area. It's a little hard to tell from the pic because it's already been "rust converted". I had hit it with a wire wheel and smoothed it out. It was still brown at this area, but most of it was black staining with no pitting.

    Windshield Frame Rust Repair?

I wish I knew of a place to grab ospho last night. I got a similar phosphoric acid based rust converter from the local auto parts place(I think made by loctite) last night and brushed it onto the rusty areas. Hopefully it works similarly enough and stops the spread. All the rust did turn dark...

    Windshield Frame Rust Repair?

The windshield guy came to put a new windshield in my truck and we found that the previous install was pretty bad. There was rust around the edge of the windshield and was spreading. The windshield is out and I have gotten the frame to bare metal with a wire wheel. There rust was just surface...

Favorite Car Of Your Teens/early Years...

In HS I had some terrible cars (a Vega and a 4 dr. Cutlass). During college I worked as a co-op and had to buy something more reliable so I picked up a Dodge Daytona Turbo Z. Those things held little value on the used market, but were pretty nice for the time. Once I graduated and got a job I...

    Let’s Talk Air Compressors/set Ups.

My 60 gal is more than enough for most things. If you run a sandblaster it's not. Lots of breaks while blasting, but it's something I rarely do. Occasionally if you're really hammering away with the impact it'll need to wait for a refill as well. Same with grinders/cutoff tools and such...
