Just a small update, I have everything off of the block now and I pressure washed it with very hot water. You guys do not want to know what came out of the cooling chambers... anyway, the next step in this process has given me a bit of trouble. I got my pistons out just fine. They look great -...

    Progress Thread 2003 V6 build

I have a 1999 V6 that I'm rebuilding at the moment as well, so I'll be sure to keep an eye on your thread! And don't worry; my rebuild has taken me QUITE an embarrassingly long period of time to finish.

I actually have some framework to clean up. When I got her, I didn't know the front had been wrecked. I have 2 new impact absorbers and a front stabilize bar that I'm going to be welding in first. I had a friend of mine suggest to paint the engine bay black or at the very least clean everything...

I have considered painting the block a dark purple, for a "purple heart" because this girl has put up one hell of a fight for me. I know I'm changing the valve cover paint from yellow for sure! Also, it makes me thing the fun part you're talking about will not be so fun lol

Forgot to post this last weekend but I dropped the pistons out. I should have taken a picture of them... Regardless, I'm just happy to be nearing the end stage of disassembly. Only thing I have left is the crankshaft. I need a special puller of the pulley but then I should be good to go. I...

Thank you all for sticking with me! I know I have long intermission between my posts, but there isn't a day that goes by where I don't think about my mustang and have the urge to drive her again. It's just been an extremely long process but I'm sure that will make me appreciate her even more...

I had used an impact on the crankshaft bolt, but the extention I was using actually broke while I was trying to get the bolt off.

Hey everyone. Another long hiatus (always seems when I set aside time to work on my girl, something else happens where I can't do what I want), but I was able to work on the breakdown today. I got a quite a bit done (manifolds, valve covers, heads, rocker arms and pushrods, water pump, and oil...

Honestly, yes to both. This full tear apart will help me figure out what i may or may not have done the first time around. I'm thinking Saturday afternoon I might be able to get in the shop and start taking some things apart. We will see! I'll keep you guys in the loop.

After about 8 hours, a lot of busted knuckles, and a few tears, she's finally out! I decided to take out the transmission as well because I have read from other people that rebuilt similar engines that it is just easier to do it that way. Next weekend (hopefully) is the disassembly.

Getting prepped for a weekend of tearing apart Molly! Ordering some parts today so they will be here by Saturday for me to get started! Hopefully the second time is the charm.

I did the timing light and it was a bust. I couldn't tell what exactly the light was flashing on so it was basically pointless. With the codes, my battery has been disconnected for it for so long, it isn't throwing out any codes. It's like it's clean, but it still isn't starting up...

That's actually the only accessory I have not replaced, but I don't think that would be it because I had the alternator go out on my Hyundai elantras last week and it wouldn't even light up the dash once it was gone. But I will give it a look, just to rule it out. Thanks much!

I realize it's been quite some time since I posted. Nothing new with her, so I have decided to start disassembling her and just starting all over again. Hopefully I can start tearing her back apart on Sunday!

Another update. This past weekend I replaced the entire camshaft position sensor and synchronizer with hopes that the sensor was just needing to be replaced. Still no luck. I'm getting a timing light this week to check the timing chain to see where we stand there.

Hey guys. New update. So this past Sunday I was able to work on Molly some and I used the tool I was allowed to borrow to line up the synchronizer.. and still the same thing is happening. I took the valve covers off and turned the engine by hand and everything looks and feels perfect. I have...

I think I may have discovered our problem. Yesterday, when I was getting the wheel bearings pressed out of the wheel hub for my mom's 2003 Hyundai Elantra, I was talking to my boyfriend's old boss who is a Master Mechanic. He had a new Edge Mustang in there similar to mine I'm not sure what year...

I think that the chain may have jumped time. I'm not sure. I'm doing a lot of car work tomorrow - changing wheel bearings on my mom's 2003 Hyundai Elantra (which sadly does not get as much attention as a mustang) and then I'm going to go over everything I can possibly think of for Molly. It...

Hey friends! I apologize for my lack of follow up. I had racing season start at the track I work at and have had weddings like crazy. I'm at the point of having to schedule time to work on my girl around everything else that I am doing. Between conferences with college and trips around the...

The closest one, they haven't had a lot of new edge mustangs in there lately. And the ones that have been in there are basically stripped to the frame. Trust me, that was my first choice lol
