    Unisteer Rack & Pinion

The Hooker Competitions, part number 6901 not the super comps(6111) will be your best compromise. They fit better and do not hang as low as the super comps so ground clearance is not an issue. They tuck up nice and tight against the bottom of the car. The issue with these is that they do not...

what intake manifold to go with?

I second the Vic Jr.. Works really well on my 347 with the Demon 650. John

    Tremec 3550

It is actually quite easy if you have your intake manifold off... Take a straight edge and place it front to back on the clean gasket surfaces on the engine block (not the heads even though I guess you could use the valve cover gasket surface if you wanted. I did not since I was using a mockup...

    Tremec 3550

Having done this in my 65, I can tell you it can be very involved if you want to do it the correct way. There are kits out there that will allow you to put it in, but you will find that the driveline angle is not correct. People on various forums have had good luck with such kits, but I wanted...

    347 start comming soon!!!

Very sorry to hear that. Honestly, that is a very common mistake by most engine builders/rebuilders. They replace the plugs, but do not stake them properly. Even when you you have staked them correctly, they can still come out. On all the engines that I have done, I have even moved past...

    347 start comming soon!!!

Wecome to the 347 Club You will not be disappointed... Just took mine for the first spin of the season... It really reminded me of why I did the 347. No regrets... Except for one... MORE TIRE!!! Guess it is a good problem to have... John

    Car Craft...

Well, my car made it into this month’s CarCraft... It was being stored at one of my friend’s places while I was moving to Jasper. He took the photo to show me that the car was in "good company" with both of his 68's (a Camaro and a Mustang Fastback) It is in "This Guy's Garage" Section... John

I know that his job has had him away for the last couple of months. Be patient. John

    Unisteer Rack & Pinion

Just to be clear, the Hooker Comps (pn 6901) will not work without the modifications that I did. I cannot confirm, but everything that I have found shows that Unisteer did the install with Super Comps (pn 6111). As to the fitment of them with an AOD, I cannot confirm. John

    67 Super Snake Project

Yea, it is an 8 to 4. There is a check box on the registration form asking if you plan on staying the entire show. If I go, I probably will not stay for the entire show since it gets so stinkin hot at that time of the year and there is not a large amount of shade there. It is one of the...

    67 Super Snake Project

Here is a photo of the class winner. The car was slick, and trust me it was a tight class. Normally I own the class, but there were 4 cars better than mine. Congrats on taking a Class Award and Participants' Choice. Make sure to come out for the Texas Classic Car Show at Rudy's Country...

    Floorpan sheetmetal thickness????

Not on the sheet metal for the floor, but you might get into issues with the frame, its connection to the rockers, and your cage. There may be restrictions on fire walls though. Of course, it all depends on how fast you plan on going... and who's track you are on... If it is going to be...

    Floorpan sheetmetal thickness????

Based upon what you have done, I guess that beaded 20 gauge would work. (to keep your feet from dragging on the ground and dropping your keys on the ground) Not knowing what you have planned for the car, well you are on your own... I am sure that the different sanctioning bodies will...

    Floorpan sheetmetal thickness????

I would not recommend it. The cars rely too much on the floor pans as a structural member even with sub frame connectors. I have seen these cars suffer structural damage from jacking them incorrectly. The existing sheet metal is a little on the thin side for the design. That is why most of...

who makes the best crate engines?

My selection is the ford crate motors. I have the FMS Z347, and it is a little much for a daily driver, but it sure is a blast to drive. Plenty of power through out the power band. Suprising amounts of low end torque for such a large cam. It far exceeds the limt of traction that can be...

    TKO 500 in a 65

Careful there chief... "The TKO 500 & 600 share the same case and dimensions are the previous TR-3550, TKO, and TKO II." (From the link below) Take a look here. The 3650 is what I have in my 03 Mach1 and it is no where close to the same transmission.

    TKO 500 in a 65

If you do not need the TKO 500, do not put it in. The t-5 will be a better fit. I have a 3550 (500) installed in mine, and it required cutting the tunnel to get it in correctly. The driveline angle without rasing the tunnel was over 6 degrees, after raising the tunnel it is the correct 3...

    Unisteer Rack & Pinion

Unisteer used the super comps, not the comps. When you look at the photos that I had posted prior you can see clearly that the headers are different in their photos from what I have (Posts number 137 and 141 on page 6). I also have the cable clutch. If you look closely at my photos above, you...
