    Expired Toploader 4-spd

Toploader P/N C5AR-7006-DW-2 Was working well, only problem is that it would pop out of 4th gear on the hwy, so no doubt it could use some work. But I was driving with it until I put in a 5 spd. With an old Mr Gasket shifter - "Competition Plus" copy, if you want it. I had this in a...

Keisler 5spd Installation - Write Up

Thought I'd write up the installation experience for a Keisler T45RS "Perfect Fit" 5spd into my '68 with Toploader 4spd & 390. I ordered a complete kit back in November - transmission, cross member, clutch disc, driveshaft, pilot bearing, speedo cable, shift lever, etc. I wanted the swap to...

    Which Efi System?

Can't comment on milage, and still have a way to go in terms of tuning for peak performance... the Adaptive Learn is pretty good, but benefits from some additional tuning. For it to "learn" it has to spend a bit of time in each RPM/MAP cell, so as it "learns" full throttle at first there is a...

    Which Efi System?

I installed a Powerjection III system this spring and wrote it up in this thread: http://www.stangnet.com/mustang-forums/threads/efi-conversion-experience-long.856312/#post-8614002

    EFI Conversion Experience (long)

I thought it was time to summarize the installation of a Powerjection III throttle-body EFI into my '68 (390 FE, 4 spd). This unit used to be the RetroTek, before being bought by Professional Products. I'd originally ordered the EFI kit from Summit complete with the returnless Fuel-On-Demand...

EFI - locating the fuel pump

I ended up not installing the system this spring... with backorders it arrived late, and summer is for driving, not wrenching. I'm into it now, and after hanging the fuel pump was disappointed to find that the fuel line kit "enough to plumb from the tank to the pump to the EFI" only had 12'...

    TKO or T45?

In speaking with them, strength really doesn't seem to be a concern - their T45RS500 is rated for 500 ft lb continuous. My mild 390 won't be making that. The salesguy also offers his opinion that of the two choices the T45 is smoother shifting. So I pulled the trigger and ordered it today...

    TKO or T45?

Not pocket change :) $2694 for the T45 and $3199 for the TKO. Both rated at 500 ft lb torque. These kits are complete down to the pilot bushing, the driveshaft (specify length), cross member, speedo cable etc etc Phil

    TKO or T45?

Keisler Engineering is now offering a "Perfect Fit" T45 5-spd kit in addition to their TKO kit. The TKO is priced at about $500 more ... is the TKO worth the price premium? (Why?) Keisler has given me quotes on both systems, but hasn't said which one they would recommend. Going into a...

EFI - locating the fuel pump

tank vent? Lots of little things to figure out before I switch over from the carb. But meantime getting the wiring, brackets, etc taken care of. What have you done (if anything) about venting the fuel tank? Looks like I need a 2nd coolant port for the coolant temperature sensor (I've got...

EFI - locating the fuel pump

My Project III unit (formerly RetroTek) just arrived. Instructions say that to be self priming the fuel pump must be located below the level of the fuel tank and within 2 feet of it. Pretty limited choices there, and I don't think drilling into the rear frame rails to mount it there would...

65 Radio Swap - Wiring Help

I believe the light blue / red is from the dash lights and therefore variable voltage (ie: lower output when headlights are on and dash lights are dimmed, etc) and not a constant 12 volts. On the unit I installed, the "always hot" lead was higher power and drove the internal amplifier...

    rubber sound deadener 'sweating'

No, its not that - the car rarely (never) sees rain. The rubber mat is degrading and oozing this gunk. It is also pretty fragile now and tore easily when peeling it up.
