    Best adjustable rear shocks?

Firstly, you'll need to ascertain exactly what is bottoming out. Are your shockies bottoming out in the tubes, or is the axle housing hitting the rubber stops on the body? Personally, I'd never settle for anything less than Konis and they can be bought specifically for lowered applications -...

Any Australians here? Looking for parts...

Good to see your interst in Aus Ford Muscle. The BA motor is definitely the one to go for if you can afford the $$. It's the most recent design and the 'Typhoon' motor is awesome. I think they all have ZF boxes in them now, at least the automatics are. Ford sixes in Aus pretty much went like...

    Bilstein Shocks

I've had my daily driver Falcon for 11 years now, and for 9 of them I've had a set of Konis on it. Put them on, never touched them, still ride as good as the day i got them with at least 300000+ k's on them and a lot of towing. From what I know, Konis are just a hydraulic shock with no gas...

6cyl to 8 cyl - Where to start

OK, firstly try doing a search because I'm pretty sure you're not the first person in history to ask this question. But briefly here's what you do. Put the car up on stands and rip out the entire suspension. Replace with V8 gear. Virtually nothing is the same, especially the steering gear...

    six with a v 8 sound?

I think a six can sound like an 8 at low revs with the right exhaust. I was asked numerous times if I had swapped a V8 into my Falcon just after I put a new exhaust system on it. Extractors, high flow cat & freeflowing Lukey 2.5" muffler and resonator. Any six at high revs sounds like a six....

What is the purpose of the bypass hose

If that's the case then I'd say that your engine is at the right temp and your gauge is reporting inaccurately. Is there any way of getting hold of a mechanical gauge or a thermometer to check what the actual temp of the coolant is?

    Wish List!

Hi Historic, I'd love to have some 'retirement time' on my hands, but I'm only 35 (ish:D ) so I'll have to leave that up to my dad who has just ticked over into 'retirement' mode. One thing that i have tried to do with my '65's redevelopment is to try to incorporate as many late model items...

    Lowering blocks/U bolts

Why do you find the need for blocks? Is it to keep some arch in the springs with a low ride height or just for 'fine tuning'? Some Oz Historic Racing action for those who are interested.

What is the purpose of the bypass hose

 Yeah, now that methinks more about it, if your thermostat is creating a seal NOTHING is getting past it! therefore no venting. Although the bypass will vent air trapped in the water pump during filling. Apart from that I stand by everything else i said and hereby advocate a small hole...

What is the purpose of the bypass hose

OK, here's how it all works. All the hoses that attach to the water pump are on the low pressure side of the impeller. When the thermostat is closed, 2 things need to happen, water needs to circulate in the block to evenly warm up and water needs to be able to circulate in your inside heater...

    Lowering blocks/U bolts

Torque = force x distance. If you increase the distance betweeen the axle centreline and the spring (ie, with lowering blocks), you get an increase in the amount of torque being applied to the spring - simple math that cannot be disputed. More torque applied to the spring = more wind up...

    Putting Together Fuel system

This site seems to have some pretty good info. I'm about to order some Mallory gear through Summit, as soon as I work out all the fittings I need!

Thoughts on why this is happening??

Running out of fuel? Check pump and filter conditions. If it were electrical based I would think that throttle position wouldn't play a part in the breakdown. Unless you still have the vacuum advance hooked up. If it is still hooked up, check that the advance plate is moving freely.

    what gauges are most important?...

Fuel Pressure would be fine inside if it's electronic.

Identify this motor by the heads?

Can't help much but I was always under the impression that the trucks had their EFI intake on the opposite side to a car. Might be one way to get some kind of initial impression.

    what gauges are most important?...

Yep, them three. If you want more, next on my shopping list would be Engine Oil Temp. Voltage will tell you if your altenator has stopped charging (which is bad). Ammeter will tell you how many amps are being drawn - depending on where you put this in the electrical system it may still make a...

    WANTED

Hi Marshall, how's it going. There's a guy up the road from my parent's place that is in the process of doing a '66 GT convertible. I know he's got a lot of new bits and I'm not sure if he has double-ups of any parts. I'll ask him next time I see him. Is there any problem with getting your old...

    Trunk springs

They look pretty similar. I'd like to know how they did it in the factory. Must be a special tool for it or something. Good luck driving to work today.....

    Trunk springs

I did this job just 2 weeks ago! %^&king nearly killed me!! (as well as taking some chips out of the paintwork  ) I'll try to explain it in words as I took no pics. I consider this system to have 6 parts, 2 individual parts and 2 joined parts: Left bracket/Left hinge (joined) right...

    Why not a Richmond?

With regards to the T5, I had a friend which was using one of these behind a 4.0L six cyl Falcon and he was regularly blowing up 2nd or 3rd gear (I can't remember which exactly). This was also a common problem in any performance/racing application. Apparently the problem arisies between the...
