Valves. Change your oil.... do a fuel system clean (not the bottle stuff, the real carbon cleaner that will make your car smoke like a bandit)... and see if it goes away. If not... at least you have clean oil and fuel/intake system.

Who's money is this? I would build a nice motor for that money. You could get a 347 stroker kit for around 1k and still have $$$ left over for a n20 kit... plus... after you wax his ass... you would still have a nice stroker motor. Or you could do the stroker with a good top end combo and...
