GT500 tested in the new Car and Driver...

I misunderstood your post. I agree on the solid axle - I raced a Stang with solid axle and a panhard and it handled great.

GT500 tested in the new Car and Driver...

Who cares if the Vette suspension is not the latest in suspension design? It works terrific. Thumbing your nose at the transverse leaf spring is like the Eurotrash that always scoffs pushrod engines. I could care less about technology for technologies' sake. What matters is how it performs...

GT500 tested in the new Car and Driver...

You're right on with the porkiness factor. Ford really should have used an aluminum block. That alone would have dropped 110# and significantly improved weight distribution. I don't believe the BS that you need an iron block on a boosted engine. The Ford GT doesn't need one. They seemed...

Four GT500 mules testing at Mt Charleston, NV

I ran across four GT500 mules doing some testing on Mt Charleston NV, about 30 minutes west of Las Vegas. Two had unpainted hoods, and one had a regular GT front and rear bumper. All had mucho test equipment inside the car. Overall, the car looks great. I like the hood and bumpers. The rear...

    Best $2500 in performance mods

So far, it sounds like a CAI and tune are the best bang for the buck. Since the '05 uses 87 octane and has VVT, a good tune should produce noticable results. Beyond that, the gains are hard to find without getting expensive. The '05 is well optimized from the factory. The standard bolts ons...

    Questioning the MM&FF results

I'm starting to get the feeling MM&FF has never met a modification they don't like. I just finished reading the Oct '05 MMFF and can't help but question the results from the throttle body swap on an '05 GT. They claim a 16hp and 28 lb-ft torque gain with no other changes. BS. The 55 mm dual...

    Remote Turbo?

A remote setup doesn't have the turbos under the hood. The only additional heat is from the boosted air.

    Poly steering rack bushings

I am looking at adding offset poly steering rack bushings to sharpen steering response and reduce bumpsteer. I was wondering if the poly will significantly increase the NVH (will my hands go numb from the vibrating steering wheel)?

I forgot to ask - does it fit under the stock hood?

just bought the saleen 3v supercharger!!

Agree. Saleen blowers may not make the most power, but they sure seem to be reliable. I put one on my '01 GT and never had any issues, as far as engine reliability (had to change out the I/C fan controller twice). Conservative setup since they need to warranty their cars.

    '05 Options Question

Test drove an '05 yesterday and decided I need one in my garage. The guy at the dealership wasn't as up to speed on the options as I would have liked. Wondering if you guys could help me out. 1) Active anti-theft system: if I don't get this option, does the car have a standard passive system...
