    Caltrac's or Traction Master?

Traction aids Never used original Traction Masters, but I have used both Slide-A-Links and Cal Tracs. Both do a great job controlling axle hop and planting the rear tires, but the Slide-A-Links are better for street driven cars and Cal Tracs are better for drag raced cars. Cal Tracs are more...

PLS Recommend AOD Tranny for 67

History lesson Check out this link to Baumann Electronic Controls for a history and info on Ford automatic trannys, including the AOD, AODE, and 4R70W. I've been very happy with my beefed up 4R70W. But the 4R70W is a BIG transmission, significantly larger than a C-6, and it takes some...

Breaking in a new cam - what oil?

I just broke in an aggressive high-lift flat tappet solid lifter cam without any problems using Shell Rotella T 15W 40 "dino" oil. It's made for diesel engines and already has the extra additives you need for initial break-in.

Experience: Comp cams 268H in a stock 289

Some engine builders now recommend NOT priming the engine with oil before starting it after a cam install. Priming the engine with oil can wash off the cam lube. One thing you should definitely do is fill the oil filter with oil before installing it. For high-lift flat tappet solid lifter cams...

    4R70W tranny question?

Installing a 4R70W in a first-gen Mustang is doable, but it's not the easiest project. Check out Baumann Electronic Controls' website at www.becontrols.com for details and products to help you get it done.

slight miss/buck when at steady speed

Sounds like you may be experiencing a lean surge condition, especially if you find it goes away when you ease into the throttle. Try increasing your fuel pressure slightly to richen up the fuel curve.

Slow crank/none start after car has warmed up

It's possible that the problem was a poor ground at the starter and not a bad starter. By changing the starter, the poor ground problem may have been solved simply through renewing the ground to the block when the new starter was installed. I struggled with poor hot starts until I ran a separate...

    innovate LC-1 Wideband ???

The LM-1 is easy to set-up and use, and the instructions that come with it are clear and complete. That said, it's easier to use it as a standalone tuning tool rather than as a replacement for a stock O2 sensor. Check out Innovate's forum for more info on what you want to do...

    Old Gas Disposal?

If you have a concrete driveway, pour the old gas on the driveway at Noon on a hot sunny day. It will evaporate very quickly. (Unless you're looking for excitement, don't let anyone with an open flame anywhere close until the gas is dry!)

Who's painted there headers???? come on it!!!!

I've had great success with Eastwood Company's stainless steel coating. It's been on my 351C headers for over 6 years without rusting, discoloring or flaking off. I looks like freshly sandblasted steel, and stays that way. Here's the link...

    paint removal off chrome?

Use bronze wool instead of steel wool - it won't scratch the stainless trim. Bronze wool is also great at removing paint from glass - again, it's too soft to scratch the glass.

    "Faster" 351C intake?

Unfortunately, the Blue Thunder high-rise dual-plane manifold is made for the 4V Cleveland and not the 2V. As for the new Edelbrock 351C 2V RPM Airgap, it's scheduled for release on June 1st. Major mail-order parts vendors will be selling them for around $315 plus shipping. Given the limited...

I'm running a moderately aggressive street-driven 351C in a 1970 SportsRoof. (Deails in My Garage) What do you think: Will I see significantly faster acceleration (2500 RPM to 6500 RPM) with the new Edelbrock 351C Performer RPM Airgap intake instead of the current Weiand X-celerator intake...
