Production Numbers, Auto Show Impression, and a General Rant

Actually a car typically depreciates anywhere from 10-15% once you drive it off the lot. Talk about a "painful" investment if you have borrower's remorse! I think what hurt the manufacturers the most is that most of them were "living la vida leasing" for the past 8 to 10 years and it has...

Production Numbers, Auto Show Impression, and a General Rant

Funny enough, the Camaro IMHO has a much more dramatic look to it and I must say although I've never been a big Camaro fan, at least of the more recent models, I love the futuristic retro look of the Camaro concept. Ouch! Did I just say that on a Mustang forum?!?!? :nice:

Production Numbers, Auto Show Impression, and a General Rant

As for the production numbers, I was at the International Auto Show here in Miami today and spoke with one of the Ford reps at the show. I was told that they have "officially" slated production of 8000-10000 GT500s per year for the next 3 years so there is likely to be more than plenty to go...

Let me clarify...I think they would have a hard time seliing 7000 to 10000 units at a large premium (5K-20K) over MSRP. If MSRP is in the low to mid $40's, it will likely sell well at that price. What they need to do is make as many as are demanded and produce them at a rate that will give...

I don't know what is worse... the fact that someone put THEIR SPOT IN LINE for a GT500 on eBay or the fact that they have 3 bids on the auction. :nonono: I'm all for capitalism, but that's just utterly ridiculous! :bs:

BTW...I know of few people that go to a dealer to look at cars they have no intention of buying, except for maybe someone looking to get a "joy ride" testdrive. Fortunately for the future owners of those vehicles, most of those "uber" / "elite" vehicles are not allowed to be test driven unless...

I hate when forums timeout! I'm not about to retype everything I just replied, but the jist of it was I can understand the halo car concept which has more of an effect at an autoshow than at the showroom level, but mainstream car manufacturers are better served by building long term brand...

How many $70K Saleens do you see driving around in your area? I'm in South Florida too one of the Mustang Capitals of the country and I rarely see them around here. For that matter, I don't see a lot of the new regular Mustangs on the road down here for as popular as they are suppose to be...

I haven't posted on this forum for quite some time, but I couldn't help myself given the topic at hand. Given Ford's troubles, this "strategy" is likely to backfire. People looking at this car WANT what they WANT and if they don't get it, they'll just wait or more likely than not go...
