    03 Cobra electrical issue

Thanks for your speedy response. I have forwarded this info to the shop looking at the car. I am wondering why it ran fine for about an hour before it started freaking out? I would think that it would not have run at all if it were a ground issue. OBTW, it was inside a temp controlled...

    03 Cobra electrical issue

I started up the stang for the first time after sitting for about a year. It ran fine for about an hour and then the electrical system started going haywire. I tried to start is again and all I got was a click, click, click as if the battery was dead. I had it towed to a shop thinking that...

    Torsional rigidity test: 67 coupe

Hi 66, I think it is important to keep all of the structural modifications behind the engine / front suspension and in front of the rear axle. That will keep all the original crumple zones, such as they are in a 60's comuter car, intact. Bob

    Torsional rigidity test: 67 coupe

Agreed. When we shave the drip rails we always leave about 1/16" of the drip rail and then add a metal trim strip around the window opening and seal weld all the seams. Bob

    Torsional rigidity test: 67 coupe

I do not see why the struct foam won't work in an open channel. It should increase the strength of any struct member it is applied to. Some shapes should generate more bang for the buck, but I have no experiance with the material other than OEM applications. Bob

    Torsional rigidity test: 67 coupe

Hi BOM, Adding structural foam will increase the strength of the individual item, unfortunatly, the major issue is the joint or connection between the "A" pillar, the roof and the cowl structures. To improve this area of our cars, we are adding gussets between the cage and the existing "A"...

    Torsional rigidity test: 67 coupe

Here is what we have done so far.... The green shows the original structure. Everything else is a modification. Bob

    Torsional rigidity test: 67 coupe

Very interesting stuff here. Very similar to our study. Here is my two cents worth on the topic. I have been studying a bit of data covering the structural analisys of a NASCAR chassis. A lot of it applies to unibody construction. For example. The major chassis members are... The...

    Fastest through the "Kink"

THanks for the heads up, although we think we have it performing pretty well at this point. The folks at Bob Kurgan Motorsports and Maximum Motorsports and DSS and Ford Racing have been extreamly helpful in fine tuning things. As far as Fire and Ice go, we are well on our way. Chassis work...

    Fastest through the "Kink"

So far, the SN65 has been at four different race tracks. These are (in no particular order) the Autobahn, Road Atlanta, Putnam and Road America. So far, Road America has been the most notable. At Road America a "member" took Wayne for a ride through the "Kink" at about 120. He said that...

    The SN65 project car

Yes, in order to pry my butt out of the seat, I am going to need to see about 200 to 250K. In regard to Troy getting about 100K.... Let me say  Try multiplying that by anywhere from 3 (for a entry level custom) to 7 times. Reports are that the car he finished for the Detroit...

    SN65 fender flares

The FRP flares from maier racing will run you about $600, and yes, our steel kit is about $300 more. But on the other hand… We have used the bond on FRP items in the past. And yes, the steel items will cost you more. But, I believe that it is worth the added cost when you end up with a...

    SN65 fender flares

The material cost (4' x 5') and time on the plasma table add up quick. We are planning on running 8.5" to 9" rims up front and 9.5" to 10" in the rear on our current project cars. We are using these flares on both. Also, a tire with an outside diameter of 25" to 26" will look killer...

    SN65 fender flares

We finally worked up all the details on the front and rear flares for 65 and 66 Mustangs. The flares are based on those we created for the SN65 project. It was a lot more work than we originally estimated. I would bring a design to Wayne and he would go through the assembly procedure...

    Fire and Ice

We are adding about 200 lbs but we are taking away weight in other areas. I am guessing that we come in at about 3,000 lbs when complete.

    Fire and Ice

We have been working hard on areas of the car you will never see. Here is the cowl before we started.... Here is the completed cowl.... We just have to weld up all the holes we are not going to use and we will be sending it off to the media blaster.

    Fire and Ice

Well... Things are moving along. We have the fender flares roughed out. We won't be able to do the final fit until we test fit the 3 link rear end. Also we have finished boxing the motor mount reinforcements.
