Fit and Finish - How's your's holding up?

I traded a 2002 BMW 330CI for my 05 GT in October 2004. The BMW was a fantastic car, but not better than the Mustang - just a different kind of ride. It, like any other car, had its share of noises and quirks, and no less than my Mustang. The Mustang has a firmer ride, which tends to...

    AUX input SOLVED!

I agree with you 100%. Well, 90% anyway. The install was fairly painless, but since I had never dug into my dash, I took it slowly. The whole process took the better part of a day, but the good news is that I have become fairly proficient tearing it apart & putting it back together. Now that...

    Shaker 500...

Judging from what I've read in this forum over the past 9 months, the answer to this is "It depends." The quality of these units must not be consistent, based on user experience. I have a Shaker 500 in an early GT (September build), and I have had no problems whatsoever. I think that the...

    Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix

For those of you waiting/looking for an '05... The 2005 Mustang was the Marque car of this year's 2005 Pittsburgh Vintage Grand Prix (http://pvgp.schoolwires.com/674694323112229/site/default.asp). They rounded up 100 brand new (unsold) torch red 2005 Mustangs (GTs, Convertibles, V6s) and...

    VIN: 1ZVFT84NX55198888 - Is that 198,888 Mustangs?

Dave, Maybe it has something to do with the cars from the earlier production runs, since yours and mine were among the first. How about those of you whose VINs calculate correctly? Is there a pattern here?

    VIN: 1ZVFT84NX55198888 - Is that 198,888 Mustangs?

OK, this thread piqued my curiosity, so a quick Internet search produced the following link that some may find useful: https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_tools/default.asp The calculator provides a lot of info, but curiously reports my car (a GT) to be a 6 cylinder.

    VIN: 1ZVFT84NX55198888 - Is that 198,888 Mustangs?

So, my last 6 digits are 107976. Does this make it the 7,976th '05 GT, or the 7976th '05 Mustang of any style? Just curious.

How do you get on a list??????????

Interesting. I called my local dealer (where I bought my 05 GT), and they told me that only SVT dealers would be selling the Shelby. I can't imagine that they would give up a sale to another dealer if they were able to sell me one.

    Resale Value?

Jennifer, That's probably good advice, but at this point there are no guarantees of getting the Shelby (or when), so I would hate to give up my 05 without a guarantee of some sort. Perhaps when they first start taking legitimate orders for the Shelby & there is a realistic end point.

    Resale Value?

However meaningless it may be, I've added my name to the "list" at a local dealer for the 07 Shelby. Any speculation out there what kind of resale value I can expect for my 05 GT when the Shelby is finally available? I know it's a hot car now, but how do you think it will do in the long run?

Anyone hooked up an ipod or other mp3 player?

I would have to disagree with you on this point. I use a fairly high quality FM transmitter with the Shaker 500 in my Mustang, and get adequate - but not spectacular results. There is always some level of static or hum, regardless of the station that I select. I plug the same MP3 player into...

anyone use USAAor buyer service to buy their car

I used their service, and the best I could do was $500 below MSRP. Considering other stories that I have read in the forums, I figured that I was not going to do any better - so I jumped on it!

Who is the King of waiting?

Boy, I guess I'm lucky that I found one in the lot with all of my desired options - back in early October. I'd be going nuts about now if I were still waiting!

    Practicality Issues

My 12 year old granddaughter was OK in the back seat as long as the front passenger seat was moved up a bit. Otherwise, not really enough space. Definitely no space behind the driver seat (with me driving, anyway). Ed

    Bluetooth Handsfree

I briefly toyed with the idea, but the steep cost of the add-on made me hesitate... That is, until I bought a BMW X3 for my wife, which had integrated bluetooth capability. Wow. It is simply the best hands-free operation available. Whenever the phone is in the car (or very close...

    Pro's/Con's for the `05 GT?

Truly love the car for reasons that everyone already knows, but I miss some small things: - Stereo controls on steering wheel (why stretch the cruise controls to both sides of the steering wheel?) - A way to open the trunk without the key or remote. - An adjustable cup holder - A more...

    05 SHAKER 500 NOT WORKING !!!

Happened to me the other day also. It was the MP3 disk in slot #6, which had been working the night before. In the cold morning, it reported that it was a bad disk. I ejected it & reinserted & it worked fine. Is it possible that it fogged up as the car warmed up?

    Center of Attention

I picked up my Torch Red GT two weeks ago today, and I am still amazed at the incredible amount of attention that it generates. Other cars nearly collide with me while the drivers gawk, pedestrians of all ages point & stare, and I am constantly approached by grinning awe-struck people wanting...

Shaker 500 - Where is Everything?

Thanks for the info, but my next logical question is "How do you get to the back of the head unit?" I'm pretty ignorant about that sort of thing. Thanks, Ed

Shaker 500 - Where is Everything?

I posted this question on a different thread on the forum, but without any responses. You guys seem to know your way around the stereo systems, so I'm copying my question below. Thanks in advance. Aux Audio? ------------------------------------------------------------------------- There...
