I've pulled the codes in both key on and engine on and it comes out clean. When I drive I get a check engine light almost non-stop. Any ideas on a cause? 89 5.0 AOD with a low rpm cam

solved The problem turned out to be that the cat was flaking apart and plugging up the inside of the muffler.

Thks. I will go back thru the basics completely. Plugs (copper), wires, rotor, cap, replaced 2 months ago. fyi. I'll check compression. There is a smell of raw gas at the exhaust as well.

I have an 89 5.0 with MAS air, CA smog, AOD (E?) Cold air and no major mods. My problem is that I have what sounds and feels like a missing cylinder or two when I am at low RPM's and under load. I am not pulling any fault codes at all, and it passes the cylinder balance test as well. It idles...

I thought I was having the same 180 degree problem. But when I pulled the number one wire completely away from the other wires it started flashing in the correct place. Check it before you re stab.

Does anybody know what the correct way to have a single HEGO wired up to the computer. Right, left or connected to both? 89 5.0 mustang with messed up harness. Thanks

Keep at it, :nice: I have the same problem and I've changed most everything as well. I'm going to change the computer next. Have you checked to see if your catalitic converter is plugged?

Try pulling the stored codes to see if anything comes up that will give you a starting point, then look at a wiring diagram. The EEC power relay supplies power for a lot so check that area as well.
