The Reenmachine DOHC '67 Shelby Clone Convertible Progress

Oops! Sorry, I was actually looking at pictures of the "blue" car. I was curious because my '65 is twilight turquoise, and that car seems similar. I have never seen good photographs of that color. I'm trying to decide if I want to keep it the factory paint code. So, what color it that one...

The Reenmachine DOHC '67 Shelby Clone Convertible Progress

Pete, What color is the green car? Is it a factory "turquoise" color, or custom? Thanks Steve

help with me a lsd or locker

It's partly a matter of driving style. A locker is harsh in operation and can make the car change from understeer to oversteer with varying throttle application. It favors more "brutish" driving, sort of throw it into the corner, and and hang the tail on exit. A LSD, preferrably a torque biasing...

x-pipe w/muffs VS. Shelby style side exhaust

That Magnaflow test is not an apples to apples comparison as to H vs. X pipes. For the X pipe test they also upsized the tubing from 2.5 to 3.5, and the mufflers from "unknown" 2.5's , to their 3" mufflers. Just an observation.

T5 rebuild question: dog ring or synchronized gears

Oh, thanks guys! I had decided against one for my '65, which will be an almost daily driver, but now you've got me thinking about it again. One question. Any idea how many street miles one could run before needing dog replacement? Thanks. Steve

T5 rebuild question: dog ring or synchronized gears

I didn't think about the bike analogy, that's a good one. But a dog ring box for a 3000+ # car will not shift as "neatly" as a motorcycle. I do have a crotch rocket, and those motors have so little rotational inertia that the shifts are as smooth as any grocery getter. I still have to admit I've...

Any real benefit to an H pipe compared to regular dual exhaust?

My 2 cents. Any difference between an X and Y will not be something you can feel, especially on the street. Also, The only way to know would to do a dyno test. The results will vary with different combinations, some of which will benefit the H. The other issue is which sounds better to you. I...

    cowl panel

I had the same problem with my '65, the bottom inch or two on the top cowl piece was destroyed. I bent and butt welded patches from steel sheet. It takes alot of time, and the many small pieces have to be fit like a jigsaw puzzle. But if done carefully, the results will look factory.

T5 rebuild question: dog ring or synchronized gears

Dog ring gearboxes are built for racing, and are great on track. They shift faster without the syncros slowing things down. They also can be shifted without the clutch, but the technique does take time to learn. They're not good on the street because you can't "granny shift", every shift has to...

T5 rebuild question: dog ring or synchronized gears

Actually, dog rings are not "syncros" at all. That is, they do nothing to help match the rotating speed of the gear you are shifting into. You don't want that for the street unless you are really hard core! You can't just push the clutch in and shift like a street car. You would have to...

anybody have 0.63 overdrive with 4.11s?

I'd have to agree with edbert. For highway cruising, the lower the RPM the better for fuel mileage, as long as you can maintain speed and accelerate mildly. Hell, my wife's 2L VTEC pulls fine at 2000 RPM, and it's not a low end torque engine. Are you actually running enough cam that it won't...

    marking bolts

On my formula ford I use finger nail polish to mark fasteners, passion pink! Granted it may not work on headers, but I wire them. It even works on my brake calipers, but they don't get as hot as a production cars would.

    Cowl Vent Cover

It makes it easier to see any damage if you remove the drivers side vent from the top hat and look up at the cowl bottom. Stuffing your head up under the dash with a flashlight and mirror. Also check where the cowl top drain is up under the front fender and at the firewall. Mine was so rusted...

    Sub Frame Connectors

I can't argue with you there, one would have to be very careful not to cut into the original rail. Personally, I couldn't put them on anything but a "plain jane" car. I still can't decide on how much to modify my '65 4V coupe, if i can ever get it back on the road. I hate the thought of cutting...

    Sub Frame Connectors

It's not a irreversible modification, with careful grinding they could be removed without damaging the frame rail. I mean, if we can replace rusted out floor pans and frame rails, it's certainly not a big deal. As far as flex, my stock 1 owner '65 coupe (an old lady) had tears in the...
