Hello there..I’ve got a 1989 5.0 302 .30 over with hyp pistons, gt40 heads, upper/lower intake, B303 cam, stock valvetrain , 19lb injectors, longtube headers, t5 trans. Do I need a tune for this setup? Any advice would be helpful.
Absolutely......NOT. You can "tune" it yourself with timing, fuel pressure and TB adjustments. Beyond that, with such a simple combo it's unnecessary. The whole "tune" idea get's thrown around WAY to much nowadays. With the newer cars, seems like any little change requires a "tune" to run at peak performance. Not with these old Foxes.
I get a chuckle when I read 'I have a bla bla mustang with a belly button engine, a 70mm tb and maf with 24 lb injectors, twisted wedge this and equal lenth that and a (pick a cam). My buddies (that likely drive 'tuner' toyotas and hondas) tell me I need a 'tune'. I have my uneducated thoughts...
Ok . That’s what I thought also. I’m not entirely sure why my engine rebuild guy was very persistent in telling me I would need a tune after I get the car up and running. @Monkeybutt2000
