I got a functional '82 scoop on my hood, last year part of the air filter sat in the scoop but could still suck air from the engine bay. This year I want to make an enclosure to prevent the carb from sucking in hot engine bay air, and to only use outside air... also to cause a sort of RAM effect at highway speeds. Anyone done this on here? I plan on getting some metal sheeting which would be bolted to the lower aircleaner housing and sides rivited to the bottom, with a huge gasket following the upper lip. The problem for me right now is for when the engine torques, I'd need like a 1" foam gasket or something at the top...

OR I could use the bottom plate under the aircleaner and have the box (rivited to the hood, under the scoop so the rivets won't show) sit on the plate with a large foam gasket. This would make things easier since the hood reinforcements would be a PITA to work with in making a perfect seal using the other "normal" method.
