Friday was 70+ here in North Texas, with big storms and Tornado warnings in the evening, rained all night into Saturday AM then it was snowing till about noon. Got up to maybe 38-39 degrees and the roads were all just fine, today is like 60's and Sunny. Normal Texas weekend.

Had I planned for this thaw a bit better I would have pushed the car outside and powerwashed the bay. Needs a good degreasing before I start stripping it down. I’ll need to take pics though.

And for once in a long while, you Mass. folk don’t have any football to watch today! :hide:

sorry.... disgruntled Jets fan.

I grew up in Mass. and every town had 3 or 4 cops giving speeding tickets 24 hrs. a day. I wonder about emissions testing . They have to be at least as bad as California. Liberal utopia . A law , tax , and fee for everything.

I get thumbs up in the fox from cops these days.

No emissions testing but you need to have cats on the car. I’m actually not a fan of catless. As for actually passing a sniffer, they don’t test. They don’t even pop the hood.

I'm in essentially the same boat. I still need to ditch my smog pump though. My 3 ways, don't need them.

Yes yes yes!!!!! :nice:
I definitely want the thermostat housing ones.

Here's what I have for bolts. The therm housing ones are 5/16-18 in 1” and 1.5” lengths

5/16-18
3/4" long - 96242A631
9/16" long - 96242A630
1" long - 91271A671
1 1/2" long - 96242A633
2" long - 96242A648

3/8"-16 SS bolt
1" long - 96242A736
1 3/4" long - 96242A746

1/4-20 Stainless
1" long -96242A509
1/2" long - 96242A502
3/4" long - 96242A506

Mcmaster only has the stainless ARP bolts. I haven't found them to carry the black nitride bolts, and can't find the matching washers. But if you plug in some of those numbers it brings you to the entire chart to order bolts by size. Obviously the more you order to break up shipping cost, the better

7/16-14

5/16-18
3/4" long - 96242A631
9/16" long - 96242A630

3/4" long - 96242A506

I beleive the T-stat housing bolts are the 1" and 1.5" long bolts under the 5/16-18 header, but i'll have to double check. Mcmaster only has the stainless ARP bolts. Hit up @srtthis about getting it into the bolt reference thread.

I was gonna do the same but ended up using lauquer thinner to wipe everything down and then prep spray. Worked very well and was kinda glad i didnt preasure wash as i always end up covered with grease and dirt.

I would but McMaster does switch vendors. It might not be an issue for stainless as I think arp is the only manufacturer, but for their black nitride bolts I have gotten stuff from arp and a different vendor. So there’s no guarantee on the brand.

All the stainless stuff I listed above is arp stuff I actually did buy and receive. The black nitride 12pt nuts are also arp.

New engine cradle arrived. Got some casters in the mail even though I don’t think this this is going to roll all that easy in my garage.

Valve covers arrive Thursday. I’ll bolt those on and make sure everything clears and then I’ll put the engine down on the cradle.

Mounted. I’ll add the casters tomorrow. Just gonna hang like this until the valve covers are on (so I can rotate engine to pour oil on rockers before I seal up)

This cradle will let me bolt up the flywheel and bellhousing and trans, so I can install it later on in one shot.

I need to free up the engine mount to do some trans work

Needless to say, engine is a week or two away from getting stuffed in a corner and switching my focus to the car.
