I am putting my car back together after getting it painted, I have the '67 Shelby replica hood (short version) and the R-model (type) lower front valence. It looks like something has changed since the retainers for the parking light buckets will NOT line up, not even close. The core issue is that the backing plate/retainer has the two very small holes, they prevent me from rotating the outer assembly to the correct clock position to allow them to pinch onto the valence. While the aftermarket designs are different I see they have the same small holes (4 not 2) so there's not much wiggle room there either.
This first picture is of the retainers, note the two very small holes, they do not allow much wiggle room to align the primary bucket correctly. I've looked at the online vendors and they repo parts do not even look like these originals do. I know my car was an early '67, November 14th birthday, maybe FoMoCo changed the design mid year or just used up some 65-66 parts on the early '67s?
I've attached pictures of my valence (installed without parking lights), a sample of what the catalog guys sell, plus two pictures of the actual parts I am dealing with. Surely I am not the first person to encounter the problem, I'm just looking for answers suggestions and solutions here.
