quick question for people with aftermarket cams

I was wondering if cams made your car louder throughout the entire rpm band or if they smooth out and get quieter than stock at the same rpm?

Can't tell, car is pretty loud anyways with a big lope at idle. I don't see why they would get quieter; depending on how much lift and duration you have the goal is to get more air through the heads, I'd assume louder.
