Thunk on Front Driver's Side Wheel

On my '95 GT, I'm noticing that every now and then I feel and hear a loud "thunk" sound coming from my driver-side front wheel. Initially, I thought it was brakes, but it doesn't always co-incide with actuating the brakes. The times it happens the most are when I'm in a slow turn coming to a stop (like on an offramp), or when I shift into reverse and begin to back up. I can't really describe the sound other than it's like two heavy metal pieces knocking, then releasing. Anyone else experience this?

BTW - I took it to a mechanic who diagnosed it to the possibility of my front strut, which he replaced. However, I'm still hearing it.

Go grab a 13mm wrench or socket and tighten up the two bolts that hold the K-member brace in place. I had a similar problem a while back and that fixed it. Although they felt tight, I really put the mama-jama to it and got it a bit tighter. No more thunking after that.

Just because I felt like taking a photo...

The bolts I'm referring to are on either side of the tubular brace, horizontal in the photo.
