Ahhh Grady you always seem to know more than I....
It ain't like that at all
JK, however, Grady does know the world of Mustangs, I am merely a beginner!
You guys really crack me up a lot of the time
I really do enjoy seeing what ya'll do and have to say
Just one of the reasons I hang on 94-95 :SNSign:
Here is how it really is
If you will ... think about these two things
1) I'm way older than ya'll
which means
2) I've hosed up way more times than ya'll
When I see these
what should I do kinda threads
All I gotta do is think back on how I hosed up
I'll give you my #1 hose up that took me a pretty long time to learn
I would listen to my other gear head buds and then waste time, effort, and worst of all ... MONEY
After a while, I saw, they not only knew no more than me ... they had no positive fruit from their knowledge OR labor.
I said to em one day ... "We are the blind leading the blind"
Then ... as a group ... we made some changes
At that time, the group was at the 1/4 mile track one or two times each week. We backed off our racing a bit and started to hang and help other racers who were doing what we wanted to do.
Another thing we did was ... We started to hang out at this place that raced oval dirt track cars which were powered with sbf's.
Just to show you how WISE this hick Texan is
look at
just a couple of my many classic hose ups
1) I bought a sbf long block out of a Lotus Road Racer
Them old iron heads were a work of art
Tiny pistons ... it was only 221 cubic inches
Rods, crank, & block ... modded like none of us had seen
anyway
It would not idle at less than 2K
It did not start to pick up in power until 5K
It was such a bow wow dog to drive around town
HOWEVER
From 6500 to 10K ... it would scream
How wise was that ???
2) I bought this 60 Falcon out of a Junk Yard
where I found it should'a told me somethin
We weighed it without motor/trans ... 1800 lbs
HOWEVER
Someone had put a straight axle in it
We put my complete race car drive train in it
Snuck it out one night with my softest slicks on it
Pulled the wheels 2 feet ...
... or so we thought
Took it to the strip ... at the 1/2 point it started to shake/shimmy
End of story
Again ... How wise was that ???
See what I'm tryin to say?
OR
Know what I mean Vern?
I'm done now
