Wow, my car takes a chitload of oil!!!

if not mentioned, a dry and wet compression test can be revealing.

in the old days, it was quite common to run thicker oil (back then it was simply SAE 30 weight) in motors with some miles and that burned some oil.

the EFI 5.0's use low tension rings, which does not help the issue any (blowby).

but excessive oil burning should be examined - though thicker oil might help. just make sure you dont run the thick stuff in cold weather.

good luck.

20-50 is thicker, meaning the ****s are bigger, so they won't slip through the cracks as easily. come to think of it, I go through about a quart a week, gotta take some time on my day off and find me own leak.
