i love this guys let it all out. this is a huge service to everyone. i love reading the mustang magazines but all they ever do is tell you how great their free parts worked. i wanna know what sucks, why, what happened, how much it cost etc. straight up answers are what im about. i dont know about the rest of you but i dont think my stang will ever be done so i try to avoid as many expensive mistakes as possible.

hmm were to start this list is long becuase i am stupid....

i rebuilt the aod when i blew up 1300 bucks should have waited a did swap, had another car but i didn't want to wait

so whe i came time for a rebuild i went 306 instead of 347 becuase of the effin aod, then i bought a cobra intake made by the chinese, and msd plug wires which i hate worse than homework

cobra r's becuase they are to common

eibach sportline kit and kyb shocks, i hate those two crappy items worse than i hate fat chicks

and the final insult to the world at large........... i once bought a honda crv:eek: .
which by the way i am still paying on even though it is long gone, but it got me my vert sorta so it could be worse

When I was a nubie I paid 60$ plus shipping for a pair of kick panels...while waiting for them to arrive I found a junk yard with a few foxes laying about. Two hours later scavenging nearly two full interiors I asked the owner "how much?" for all the new found parts....I had 300 in my pocket and figured I could leave any parts that ran over 300. Response from the junkyard guy was a kicker......"Give me 80 buck.....is that fair?.....damn jump the gun for over priced ebay crap....oh well live and learn.

funny ive had 2 expirences with cervinis hoods.. i had bought at a swap meet (so the hood was cheaperrrr then list) a stormin normin hood for my 86, and my coupe has a 2inch cervinis cowl.. the hoods seem good to me?

When i was new to the game i bought a Pacesetter Off road h pipe.. the thing came in 2 halfs and it took me and my dad 9 hours to install :nonono: Ive pulled a trans, installed a trans, installed an entire exhaust system in under 5 hours now.. that thing was a piece!

Ohh that and those electric fans and fan controllers from pepboys.. they are aPIECE!!!!

These were some of the first mods I made on the '90.
Flex Fan: car sounded like a damn street sweeper and the razor sharp fan blades weren't cool either.

March Ram Air: Actually was a street sweeper. ****ty ground clearance got it ripped from my bumper.

Most recent mistake:
Monroe Sens-A-Trac shocks on my '92. :( Car rides like a Caddy....an old Caddy. Like when I hit a dip, the suspension drops first, then there's a 1-second delay before the rest of the car drops. :nonono:

It's a toss-up between the $150 I wasted in my current cat-back setup (Dynomax Super Turbo #17676's) or the UPR cat'ed X-pipe that I will only keep on hand in the future for smog inspections and NEVER for daily driving. Both have done nothing but give me headaches as far as fitment and a total lack of ground clearance. (And, yes, I'll admit the side-exit idea was a stupid, stupid idea on my part, but I had to try it just to be certain.)

Being that I could've probably just bought a used OEM cat'ed H-pipe for smog testing and gotten the Jeg's off-road X-pipe that I'm currently running (and loving), I would've been money ahead to just do that instead of blowing the extra $300 on the UPR cat'ed X that I'll only use for a week or so every one or two years. So, as far as cost, the UPR X-pipe wins; as far as humiliation factor, being that I argued in favor of side-exits and such for all those posts and then I wind up hating my own setup about a week or so after I bolted it up, then the cat-back gets the win. (I am sooooooo ready to bolt up my Pypes Violators again. Good thing I kept 'em in nice shape when I took 'em off and didn't pitch 'em, or the SS tails.)

just a thought for you if you keep blowing gaskets (if thats what you mean)

when i put my turbo on i was blowing out gaskets after everytime i drove the car, i ended up just using that copper rtv stuff you can buy at parts stores and used that instead of a gasket, never had a problem after that (well till i blew a head gasket lol). the guy who made my turbo kit actually was the one who told me to do it.

Yea, the guy who put them on (we put them on when we did the engine swap and the AOD-to-T5 swap) used the crappy gaskets and bolts that came with them. I'm walking out to my garage right now to replace 4 of the bolts, and tighten up 3 because they constantly back out. The AWFUL "paper" gaskets that came with them blew within a week, which is even more annoying when we asked him to use Fel-Pro. Oh well..

Oh, and the car needs a new rear-main seal. DAMN!

BTW, your car is absolutely b-e-a-u-tiful.

i think the biggest waste of money ive had was the summit-brand catback for my truck. fit like crap, and both tailpipes go down at an angle instead of going straight back. when it rusts out im going to put a flowmaster system on it, i know that at least will be decently made (even if it does souond wierd cause of the 6 cylinder)

another waste of money was the bbk catted h pipe for my old lx. total junk, just did not fit well, pulled in the tailpipes so they rubbed on the tires (15" turbines and stock sized tires), and was overall just a pita. i like my current mac piece a whole ton better, fit first time in, didnt have any fanagling to do, and it sounds good.
