Car is for Sale...am I making the right choice?

Sounds like you have your own answer.

My advice would be hang onto your car, but you gotta do what you think is best.

Looks like about $3500 worth of upgrades you're planning. What kind of reliability would that buy for your 95?

BIG ditto. Shoot for that money you could completely rebuild your motor with a NICE h/c/i. And you would STILL be in it for less than the difference it would cost to get the Bullitt.

I really feel like alot of this is a case of impulse excitement. :nono:

I saw your car for sale on The Corral as well, and my jaw dropped. I would love to buy it if I can sell my '68.

So I'm a little biased when I say: Please sell! :D

Hey man keep me posted on the sale of the '68, my car is looking for a good home.

As for the upgrades, they will take a LONG time to get. If I get the car, Ill prob tint the windows and cut the springs and be done with it for a while.

Dude, you know when "it's time" to sell your car. I am selling mine, too. It's "just" a 94 GT. (automatic, at that) I haven't really lost interest in it. I'd just like to try something different. Nothing wrong with that. To move up to a Bullitt, is a good move. Will you miss your 95? Absolutely! Will you get over it? Absolutely! If it REALLY means a lot to you, you'll find a way to get another one. That's where I am. I had a 1985 Merkur XR4ti that I absolutely LOVED. I am going back to those, when my GT sells. It turns out that it meant that much to me. ;)

Like others have said here, you are going to have a heck of a time not taking a beating on it, pricewise. Hold out for the guy that is willing to pay what you need to get for it.

My vote is to GO FOR IT on the Bullitt, you probably wont regret it.

This is exactly how I feel. See, yea my car is beautiful (not to toot my own horn), but its really just a lowered SN95 with some body mods, wheels, and a nice paint job. And sure, its gonna be hard to part with, it was my first car. But I can always get another one down the road. Right now, I just want a newer car and this car I think will fit the ticket.

I just realized what I was trying to say....you have to have a few different cars to realize what you REALLY like in a car. (Some guys do this with girls. ;) )

I figured that if I am going to do it again, I'll buy a nice clean 94-98 Cobra and have the BEST of the 94/5 Mustang offerings.

Maybe im missing something but i just looked at your ad on corral...

What is really 120k miles on the car? You keep saying how old the car is, but what part of it is old? Once you replace the engine, trans, and rear....thats a brand new driveline. NEWER than that of the bullit. You've replaced a lot of the small nitty gritty already...i could see if the car was 90% stock since 94 or 95 but its not!

And that ad reminds me of the carfax commercials...since you guys did the repair, no one will ever know. $7,000 for a mint GT is one thing...but $7,000 for a GT after a couple wrecks is another (regardless of t he quality of repair)

Hope you make the right decision for yourself bro, my all time favorite car is a 98-02 black WS6.....but i wont trade my mustang for it. Too much blood sweat and tears are in this thing.

GOOD LUCK !

Big ditto. I keep saying this but hes ignoring the people who make legit comments about why not to sell it. :D

Nah dude, I'm not ignoring you, I totally understand what your saying. The thing is, this is also a biased section of the board to be posting on because we are all die hard 94-95 fans. Yes, I will miss my car if I get the Bullitt, but it's time for some change. I don't really know what I like the best until I've tried em all. My car has treated me really well, but I think I'm ready for a change.

I take everything that people on this board into consideration because you are mustang fanatics like myself. Don't ever think I'm ignoring you, I'm taking everything you say into consideration. I really appreciate your input, seriously. Also, I'm not sure how much I'll be getting this car for either. It could be less because my dad's friend would be giving me a deal, or it could be more. I just said 10k because I was assuming. KBB says that an 01 Bullitt with 14k in excellent condition is worth $9,020 from a private seller. This is what I'm basing my price off of. We shall see, and I'll keep everyone posted. I think the main thing is even if I get a 4.6, I will still post almost strictly in this section because I think you guys are awesome. I have been a member of this board for like 5 or 6 years now, and I must say I haven't met a nicer group of people yet. So thanks for the great times in the past, and the great times to come!

I'm not biased, too much. I was thinking more along the lines of the financial commitment and sentimental value of the car. I'd love to pick up another Fox and a New Edge, at some point. Maybe a 2010+ S197, since the 05-09 didn't do it for me. I'll keep the 95 though. :)

Well honestly, if this was the 96-98 board, i would still have the same opinion.

For me its not a car specific thing, my factors would be:

1.) how your car looks (GREAT)
2.) What you have put into your car
3.) A bullit isnt special (atleast to me...its a GT with badges)

So any car that somone puts a lot of money, blood, sweat and tears into i wouldnt tell them to get rid of it. Arent you done with school in a year? Why not hold out, keep your current car, then buy a car when u get a job?

I take that back, if they were offering a DOHC 99+...or even a 96-98 maybe....i would be more confused on what i would do if i were u. I drool when i hear a good exhaust on a mach 1.

Why not finish school, keep your car, then get a 99+ DOHC mustang?

Also, blue book is good to get an idea, but at 14,000miles...that car is worth more than $9k. (and to think you have your car listed at $7k....)

I know I'm not gonna get $7k, but I start high and can go lower. Someone will pay near what I ask. It's all what the car is worth to them.

7k is alot to ask for a car that's been wrecked what, 2 or 3 times now? Don't get me wrong man, I absolutely love your car, but I think maybe 4k or 5k would be a more reasonable price.

I know I'm asking a lot, but thats what the car means to me. Someone will buy it. I also don't expect to get 7k.

That's the main thing that gets me. Just seems like there's alot of impulse with this whole idea. I can totally see where getting a newer low mile car is intriguing, I just think regrets would likely follow. :( After all, a Bullitt really isnt that special. Its no '03 Cobra or something. :D

I dunno, to me the Bullitt has always been one of my favorite cars. I really like the interior styling a lot, and I really like the simplicity of the car. I have gotten in week long fights with my parents about selling my car because I didn't want to, so its not an impulse buy. I have known about this car for 3 years now, and I always told him if he was going to sell it, to let me know first. He just got a divorce and needs the money, that's why its going so cheap. He wants to give it to a good home and someone who is going to take care of it, and as you can see by the condition of the car (minus accidents) that I take good care of my car.

If it was an 03 Cobra for 10k, I would have already bought it haha. That's my ultimate dream car.
