So you decided to just get the 4r70w with that controller is that the way you went with your build. You can only use some of the parts from the 4R70W, clutches, drums, and a gear set IIRC. In the end it's still a mechanically programmed trans that has a reputation for being finicky.
You can find all the hard parts from any of the above mentioned donors. The v6 mustangs are almost incapable of damaging a 4R70W.
I was going to do this to my AOD but when I added up the cost rebuild kit, shift kit, and converter the Quick 2 controller was cheaper and way less labor. I think around $600 all in. The customer support was outstanding. It was literally a plug and play install.
If your dead set on the AOD/4R hybrid and want to buy parts Transtar Industries is who I get parts from.
Okay thanks did you put it in a foxbodywww.car-parts.com
Bought one late las year for $150 with the converter out of a V6 Mustang in the Dallas area. If you need the VSS and Speedo cable provision you need one out of a 98-02 as they have the mechanical diode and all the good parts. 03 and up do as well but do not have a provision for a mechanical speedo cable.
Okay man thanks for the info iv seen them stifflers there pretty niceThat’s pretty much it. Another buddy pulled the trans apart and inspected it. Was good to go so he put it back together and it was a bolt up as far as I know. You will need the USShift or Baughman Engineering controller and I believe it plugs right in. Wiring is straight forward and it self learns. Once it learns then you can go in and adjust shift points and I believe firmness.
Swap has been done a lot so search it out before hand so you fully understand what you are getting into and what parts you will need. Not sure about the trans mount and crossmember. May just need a Stifflers cross member and mount kit.
