Melbourne area stangs

Yeah, I can't hear it from the car, but it's loud under the hood. The rocker arms were used so I'm worried that the poly locks on them might not want to hold. I'd take it up to Gene to have it checked out but I can't afford extra labor...cause I know there'd be charges involved. I guess I'll buy an engine stethoscope and if it comes from the valvecover....I'll just be really pissed off and have even less to spend for the transmission. :nonono:

since they were the ones that put the motor in, i would at least inquire about it. it never hurts to ask :nice:

Yeah, I didn't mean him as a person but the coupe. I see your around here too, ever go out to carnival or anything?
You mean the carnival flea market place in rockledge? I have have drove by there many times.Well when you see Jason tell him Josh said whats up.He's seen my 2001 stang before.Dont know if I had the R wing on at the time tho.

Ok, I'm pretty sure it's not a rocker arm now. I think I have an exhaust leak somewhere. That explains quite a few things...so I'm gonna be on the hunt for that.

On a different topic, I RACED AN 03 SVT COBRA TONIGHT! I was at a red light and I see a mineral gray looking Mustang pull up next to me, but he's maybe 4 or 5 feet behind me. It has Cobra rims but I don't look at it very much. Light turns green..he has a car in front of him so I give it a little gas so he can hear it..and because I'm a jackass. Anyways, we're playing tag down the road and as he gets ahead of me, I see his rear bumper...COBRA stamped into it. We get to a light together and I motion for him to put his window down. I told him it was a badass car...he said he used to have a 92 LX coupe but "it never sounded that good". So the light turns green and I let him go before me out of respect. I'm not sure if he's going to go or not. Then I see it. The downshift flinch. So I step on it. When I nail it, I'm sitting at his back bumper...and I swear to god, I hung on his bumper for about 3 seconds. I hung with him all the way through that gear until he shifted, when he started putting feet on me. He beat me, but he didn't actually whoop the piss out of me! Sorry for the length of this, but...this is the first race I've EVER had in my Mustang...and it's against an SVT no less. Oh yeah, I'm pumped. :hail2:

hey guys, long time no talk!

I see stangnet has go through some major renovations, for the better it seems. Anyway, figured I'd try and catch up on the past...6 months I've missed. I miss anything major?

Also, have a couple questions for you guys:

1) Wheres a good place to get a paint job done at? I'm going to be doing 90% of the prep-work myself, car will probably just need some dents fixed and a final sanding when I'm done with it...so it would just need to be sprayed. Any suggestions? I don't want a show-car job, just something nice.

2) Also, what shocks/struts would you guys recommend? I've heard alot about the Tokiko 5-way's, plus some KYB's and Koni's (more than likely out of my budget) that are adjustable, but I'm really not sure. I'm probably going to stick with the springs I have now, so something adjustable would be nice, but nothing massively expensive. I know you guys are suspension junkies, so give me some input!

Thanks in advance! :nice: :D

Which struts and shocks would be best would depend on several things. First of all what spring rates are you running? Spring rate has a lot to do with shock and strut selection. Second, what is the intended usage of the car? If you want a dual purpose street/strip car the Tokico adjustable drag struts are nice. For serious weight transfer and adjustability the HAL's are hard to beat. For drag only the Lakewood or Comp Engineering 90/10's work well for a low price. If you want something for handling or autocross Bilstein or Koni are very nice. If you want to cheap out and get something sort of middle of the road that does nothing very well but provides a measure of adjustability for a low price then KYB's are your answer.

I don't know if they will spray it after you have done the prep work but S and S corvette does really good paint jobs. They're located in Port Saint jon off of US1. If you want more info let me know.

What's up man? Nothing new here since I last saw you at fuel****. Mustang is sitting at my grandma's parked and i'm driving the truck which isn't anything to brag about. How's the mustang running anyway?

They quoted me $2,000 bucks for my car to be painted (before the body work that I have done now). He asked me if I wanted show quality and I laughed and just said something that's gonna last me for awhile. I don't know if you remember the yellow vette they had, but he said it would look as good as that.

Hey! Hows it going? I'm doin alright, been pretty busy with work, ebay, and my domain...but other than that been pretty good. As to the car, its still the same. Been putting most of my money into a lot of other stuff, so the car is pretty much in the same shape it was before. It definately needs paint, so thats the next step...but it's a slow, expensive process...heheh.

What's your mustang sitting parked for? Something wrong with it? We should hook up some night and go ride around or somethin. :nice:
