electrical problem

A few days ago my blinkers and my hazards were acting up, the hazards stopped working completely and the right side blinker would just stay on and not flash when clicked to that side. Now neither of my blinkers work period, whats even stranger is that when i went to replace the flasher in the fuse box and there wasnt even a flasher in the first place. I put in the flasher and im still not getting anything. Ive ran a test light on the lights themselves and they arent getting any juice, and ive been testing a few of the wires leading to the switch itself and still not getting anything. One prong on the back of the fusebox leading to the flasher has got power going to it, but constantly the other has nothing. Anyone else had this problem or have an easier way to troubleshoot this thing?

The flasher is on the back side of the fuse panel, not the front. You have to feel for it. If you have a GT, you may have had the cursed fog light melt down (had it happen), and your MFS (multi function switch) died. Also, sometimes your U/D pullies will make your lights do funny things at idle, like not flash. Try giving it some RPMs and then test the lights while holding it at like 1500 RPM. Good luck.

Oh, one other thing, check your hazard switch and make sure it isn't slightly pushed in. I had that happen, and my lights wouldn't work. The hazards don't flash, but it kills power to the lights and I went through three bulbs, a flasher, and a headache before I saw the switch slightly pushed in.

This happened to me a few years back. I checked all of my fuses and the hazzard fuse behind the glove box, but still no luck. After $250.00 at my mechanic and 2 days of electrical troubleshooting it was that POS ignition module on the column. The kicker was that Ford had just replaced it a year before for FREE on a recall and this "new and improved one" went out. The part is less than $20.00 at your local part store and usually takes safety torque drivers to remove. Take the two column pieces off and look for a wiring harness on the right side below the ignition switch. It will be the female portion bolted to the column that the main ignition switch wiring harness plugs into. The contacts in this switch chronicly go bad and causes these accessories to not receive power. You will need to remove the lower column panel and the metal plate below it to remove this switch. Well i believe i have found the problem yet my rear right blinker still doesnt work. The autoparts store gave me the hazard flasher for the blinkers and the blinker flasher for the hazards....I didnt think they would make that big of a difference but i swapped them out anyways and everything works besides the rear right blinker. Im going to swap out the bulbs tomorrow and hopefully ill be finished. BTW ive got to rerun the wiring for my electric fuel pumps got everything done but i forgot how to wire the relay. I have the main power wire running through the battery, the relay switch power will run from the ignition, ive got a wire for the pumps and a ground and im using a Potter & Brumsfield VF4_45F11 12VDC 30 Amp relay. thanks for the help
