How to Clean my engine bay

Great link, Classic Motoring Accessories is a great place to shop. Very similar to the Eimann Fabrik Hi-Intensity Cleaner is Meguiars All Purpose Cleaner Plus which is what I use. Same principle, you dilute it to different strengths for different purposes. 1:1 is awesome for degreasing. I also use Meguiars Engine Kote afterwards. One of they key things is to NOT use high pressure as that will force water to go places where you don't want it. Let the cleaner do the work.

For tight places use toothbrushes. I also use my shop vac which can also blow to get most of the water off when I am done. Also, make sure the motor is either cold or to make the cleaner a little more effective warm it up a bit but, NEVER spray water on a HOT motor. Just to be safe I usually always do my cleaning when the motor is cold. I never let it get that dirty so warming it up is not necessary for me.

I rarely cover anything under the hood but, if you are paranoid cover anything you don't want water in. This is why I recommend no or very low pressure. Everything under the hood gets wet when you drive in the rain so it is not like there is anything under there that should never get wet. You just don't want to use high pressure and force water to go places it normally wouldn't.

I let my car set overnight to make sure the engine is cold. I spray the engine area with full strength Simple Green. Let it set about 30 minutes and just hose it off. I start the engine to speed the drying process. Simple Green works great as a degreaser and has a pleasent scent.

You my think this sounds rediculous but Scrub-N-Bubbles bathroom cleaner works well. Spray it on let it foam and then spray it off. Doesn't work so well if the dirt is caked on but does an excellent job if you need a quick clean

I use purple power, diluted a bit from 1:1. Also use engine degreaser in a can- great stuff. After the engine's warm, spray that stuff on it, let 'er sit, and low-pressure hose it off. Then, after it's all dry and clean, spray it with some foaming tire cleaner- the whole thing- it'll make all your hoses, black stuff, etc. look new and shine. Of course, this stuff kinda attracts dirt, so you'll have to do this once every month or so, but it's a GREAT way to make your engine look like new again for the show season.. This is what I do. :)

its not just enough to just use a degreeser, I use orange blast alot of rags mother aluminum polish and meguries shine, to get the harneses and plastic to shie up
