What modification to launch my automatic?

The Jerry mod shift kit is the best mod for the money. You use your stock valve body, enlarge the holes in the seperator plate, and modify the accumulator pistons. Its the best and most of all, its safe for your transmission since it was designed by Jerry Wroblewski, an ex-Ford engineer who actually desinged the 4r70w transmission itself. The rest of the transmission will support it. Its not too difficult to install, however, you can mess up your seperator plate. I let a pro do mine....the second time. First time, I drilled the holes wrong cause I used a hand drill. I let this guy do it and he used a drill press. He also got it right cause he's done valve body work for years. He's actually a good friend of Jerry's. Anyhow, the Jerry mod is the best **** kit out IMHO. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.
Can you tell me more about this Jerry mod? Is there an article on it? What does it do and how do you do it? Thanks

I see that you have the Precision Industries Stallion torque converter. From my research, this is one of the best. They claim to drop your 60 ft time by .2 seconds and your 1/4 mile time by .5 seconds. Did you find this to be true? Also, is it worth the cost ($695 plus installation)?

As for track times, I dont know yet. I havent had a chance to get at the track, though I will soon enough. What I can tell you is before the torque converter, I could floor it at idle and not even chirp my tires. They just hooked and went. After the torque converter, if I floored it form a standing stop, I'de spin all the way to the rev-limiter, shift into second, and still spinning. :D

I might need to add a torque converter to my future mods list. It would then probably be a good idea to beef-up the rear end: Moser 31 spline axle ($300), Eaton 31 spline differential ($400), and B & M transmission cooler ($50). With the torque converter, we're over $1400 plus installation. Again, is the gain really worth the cost?

You dont neccesarly need an Eaton 31 spline differential. A factory OEM 31 spline Ford differential for half the price would do just fine. If you had a five speed, then yeah, Ide tell you to go for the Eaton unit.

Go to www.stangstore.com and order the 31 spline trac-lok. Thats what Im putting in mine. Its only 180 some dollars.

BTW, a torque converter is definately worth the money. Beefing up the rear end isn't neccessarly needed unless if you intend to run either slicks and/or see a fair amount of track time. However, its definately a good idea to beef up the rear end to be on the safe side.

ive never seen a guy break the rear with an auto using i higher stall on stickies....not to say it hasnt happened a lot, i just have yet to hear about it or read a guy posting it.

Exactly. Thats why I think he should save himself some money and go with the OEM Ford 31 spline track-lok instead of spending 400+ for the Eaton unit.
