I STILL CAN'T GET MY '91 2.3L-'87 2.3T SWAP TO RUN. WHEN I TURN THE KEY IT STARTS AND SOUNDS LIKE IT IS RUNNING BUT THA SECOND I RELEASE THE KEY TO THE RUN POSITION IT CUTS RIGHT OFF. MY FATHER AND I HAVE RESET THE TIMING SEVERAL TIMES, EVERYTHING IS LINED UP SO IT IS AT TDC. I WAS TOLD TO CHECK THE IGNITION SWITCH, THE OLD ONE SEEMED OK BUT I REPLACED IT ANYWAY ALONG WITH A NEW TUMBLER. THAT DIDNT MATTER STILL DOING THE SAME THING. ALL THE WIRING AT THE COMPUTER IS RIGHT I WENT OVER IT SEVERAL TIMES, ALTHOUGH THE ONE THING THAT BOTHERS ME IS THAT AT THE #37 PIN WHICH IS A 12V VPOWER HAS NO POWER AT IT WHEN I USED A CIRCUIT TESTER ON IT. ALSO, I TESTED THE 12V WIRE GOING INTO THE MODULE UNDER THE HOOD BUT IT DOESN'T HAVE POWER IN THE RUN POSITION BUT IT HAS POWER AT IT WHEN IT IS STARTING. CAN SOMEBODY SHED SOME LIGHT ON THIS IF YOU HAVE ANY CLUE WHAT MIGHT BE GOING ON HERE. SUMMER IS HERE AND WANNA ROLL!!

I had a similar problem with mine. mine ran in the crank position and cranked in the run position.
I pulled the TFI module harness off and tested the voltage at both postions crank and run and they were backwards as i expected but i couldnt figure out why. turned out that when i wired the tranny i reversed two wires which made one end up being a constant hot which messed with the ignition.
So i guess what I'm saying is pull the TFI module harness off and check to make sure your getting the right signals based on the key position and then go from there.

I checked out the TFI and everything seems to be in order there, however we have found that we dont have power at the injectors in the run position, does anybody know what the cause of this could be? any help would be appreciated

The injectors are pulsed, so you need an oscilliscope to see what they are doing.
You only need a few things to start it...
1. Check for spark (pull a plug, leave the wire on, and ground the threads. you should see a strong spark when cranking. Just don't shock yourself!
2. Fuel. Check for fuel pressure. it sounds like the pump could be dead, or dying
3. Timing. Double check it again.
4. compression

Stupid question, but did you hook up the wires on the starter solenoid right??

All the wires except the starter wire on one post, the starter wire on the other post.

I only ask because i've seen it happen

these are the things that i have done

1. checked spark(fine)
2. checked fuel its getting it
3. also its a new fuel pump(less than 6 months old)
4. change ignition switch and tumbler
5. checked timing about 50 times
6. changed timing belt
7. then see # 5.

but i will get an oscilliscope to see what the injectors are doing, my father says he has something to check the compression...I have not remove the extra wires from the ignition harness, i was told it would be better not to until everything was in running order, but that is another thing that i will look into. also, i am pretty sure that the wires on the starter solenoid are hooked up right but i will double check to make sure...thanks for u guys help, and i am open to any other suggestions
