i was getting ready to go to the races last sat and took my car out for a test drive. as i went to stomp on it from a 10mph roll it spun like crazy so i let off and jumped on it again, shifted to second and BAM :(

i took it all apart today andthoping it was going to be my main caps that were popped off or maybe even a broken axle. well, i was wrong i snapped the locker unit into 2 pieces :bang: figure it always the most expensive piece. then as i look closer i see that my inner axle housing races are ovaled out due to the sloppin around of the axles after it happen. so now i have good set of 4.11 gears that i can't used. this sucks so bad :bs:

thanks for listining to me rant----

i guess i'll be heading down to the junkyard for a 9 inch this weekend :nonono:

anyone know what year ford has the shortest width 9"

thanks rich

Well, unless you get someone to give you one like I did.

Yeah, you're gonna have a hard time finding one and if you do, Currie can probably make you one for not much more and it'd be all brand new.

You should be able to recoup some money out of selling those gears.

You were pushing the edge with your setup anyway.

There is a Cougar and mustang junk yard in Salem, Oregon that had several 9 inch's that will bolt straight in and be correct for your stang. I got mine there for $250. I know he ships all over the US. If your interested I can look him up.

Id be interested in that, thanks :nice:

Man, Looking through your stacks of recepts will really give you heart burn wont it?

It turns out that I was mistaken, I paid $275 for the rear end. It was an open rear end and had a really high ratio. None of that mattered to me because I had 3.70's and a Locker that was going into it.

The place is:

West Coast Classic Cougar, Inc.
5377 Waconda Rd NE
Salem, OR 97305

Isn't that like the forth rear Rich ?

is it....

1.) stock with 2.73's open - cracked the axle housings!

2.) 8" with locker and 3.55's - blew apart the gears!

3.) 8" with locker and 4.11's - popped the main caps off the 3rd member!

4.) 8" with locker and 4.11's - blew apart the axle races and bearings
and locker!
last 2 - which were put together by different credited places
WTF! your right :nonono:

that sucks.... but it is kind of funny :D

guess it is time for a 9" :rlaugh:

Yeah - I think you've done a very thorough job of proving that you need a 9. :p

wheres Spring Valley? mapquest shows one near SD and one near Placerville.

I have a 9" out of a 69 galaxy thats ready to be narrowed if you want to tub the stang. its 31 spline with open 2.73, but i have a friend in placerville with a 4.11 posi.

ill take $100 for the rear end, which has the drum plates and and shoes. ill be in placerville over the summer if you're in placerville. if youre in san diego, the furthest down ill deliver is in san luis obispo

if not, anyone reading this is welcome to it
