My bro's got an 86 ttop gt, and I've got an 86 gt vert. I don't have any handy interior pics yet of my car. My brother and I are both converting ours to black interior. Since black was never offered in 86, you have 2 choices, 90-93 stuff, or keep it original and use 79-83 black stuff. We both chose to use the original 4 eye stuff because we like that look better.

that's his progress so far. On his car he has a 79-83 black center console, 79-83 black seat belts, a 79-83 dash (on the 79-82 black dashes, just swap over your frame and it'll bolt up. the 83 dashes are a direct bolt on. ALL ford dashes are painted from the factory from 79-86, so just painting yours is an option) anyhow, he's got new carpet, I got some 90-93 stuff. Hatch panels he has 83 panels....those are the only year that will fit out of ALL years. his pic doesn't show the hatch panels or door panels. + he's still trying to decide on seats.

there are a LOT of little things that come up converting your car to black if you go that route, he wrote a MUST read article if you want to go that route

in my vert, I'm using some very nice 83 door panels (the 83 ones are closest to the 86 style) some 83 black vert rear 1/4 panels, some 90 carpet, an 83 black dash, a 79-83 black center console, 83 vert rear vinyl black seat, and 90-93 leather front seats, I'm almost finished with my install.

Good luck!!!

Sweet Guys! Thanks. I got some great ideas. So far I have rewired a BUNCH of the electrical system. Took out a few un-needed items, etc.... I am having a hell of a time replacing these hatchback shock thingys...hehe

Next week I am getting new tires, windsheild, and shocks/struts......

When I receive my google check in 3 weeks, turning the converted auto BACK to a manual!!! Then the interior rebuilding will start. If anyone is interested, This is the car I am restoring... I had shown it before I bought it in another thread. I was about to pass, but was able to get it for $2100 and I had a couple guys look at it and they thought the engine was in GREAT shape, so I jumped in...
