GT 4.6 E.T. Gains

 Hey guys.
I just got into this mustang gig. I used to build and kick around a '72 Duster but it isn't fun to drive on the street with the 4200 stall and 4.55 gears. My buddy talked me into a Mustang. I picked up a '96 GT with the stock 4.6 and a five speed. I want to build the car to be fast but still road worthy. I got to still be able to smoke the cam/birds. What are the first mods i should make. I heard rearend gears, (blower?!?). Well any input on a build with good bang for the buck would be appreciated. What do they run stock with 3.23s and what will it run with the build suggested?

Congrats on yer purchase. You should be able to search thru the past posts and find exactally all the information you want. Check out people's signatures.. they usually post their ET for 1/4 mile and such.

Shifter! PRO 5.0 or Steeda. Gears -4.10, longtubes, exhaust, PI headswap, some really sticky tires and you would be shooting in the mid 13's.

I'm running 15.4 (corrected to 14.9-it's hot and humid here) with nothing more than exhaust and gears really and I have a considerable amount of wheelspin, so mid 14's whould be easy in good weather and traction.

PI Headswap needs to be first on your list.

The headswap will make the 96-98 mustangs equal or even a bit faster then a stock 99+.

#1. Pi Headswap
#2. 4.10s (or 3.73s if you plan to go with forced induction)
#3. Catback

:nice:

If you are willing to spend the money get a 4v in your car.<cobra motor>

i agree...try to find a good 4valve motor for 3000 range. Karkraft usually has some decent engines on their site with very low miles, and do an engine swap to a cobra/mach 1 motor. You'll go from about 195 rwhp to 270 rwhp and you'll drop your et.s to mid 13's atleast. and low 13's with gears.
