Best Built up AODE 4R70W Combination?

I have posted the Following quite a bit, from Rich at Art Carr

EXTREME A.O.D.E.

#22251 Super Rebuild Kit $299.00

This kit contains all the friction plates & steel plates needed to overhaul the transmission. Contains a complete bushing kit, bearing kit, filter, gaskets and seals. The common complaint with the AOD is premature failure of third gear. To cure this we upgrade the direct clutch pack with Raybestos Blue Plate Frictions & Mean Treated Steels.

#21364 Mechanical diode kit $229.00

This kit comes with everything necessary to convert over to the updated mechanical diode one way clutch. The factory one way clutch was prone to failure even in stock applications.

#22000 Hi-Tech Valve Body Kit $66.00

This kit is complete with everything you need to modify your transmission for firmer shifts.

#10501 Deep Aluminum Pan $169.00

Our pan will hold an additional 2 quarts of transmission fluid, also has a magnetic drain plug & cooling fins.

#22500 Direct Input Shaft $149.00

This shaft has become a problem when increasing the power. It has been known to break on a wide open 2-3 shift. Our shaft is made of superior 300M material.

This doesnt include the converter, b/c when he sent me this, I already had one. Rich said that with the cooler, you probably dont need to spend the extra $$$ on the deep pan. He said the input shaft may or may not be needed but is worth it while the tranny is apart.

GOOD LUCK

Thats some great info Nucking Futs, should save me a few bucks anywho by gettin a chip before I do my gear install. They main reason I chose 3.73's over 4.10's was because I would eventually like to get some power adder down the road be it a supercharger, nitrous, or a turbo of some kind. However, I think i'll be doin a little more work on my tranny first!

And GTWayne, I think your car is now a damn good inspiration for more than a few of us with AODE's. Oh, and great links, very informal.

Thanks for the complements. I know we list all the mods on our website but I should have indicated that I have 3.73s and without the Tweecer the Wideratio gear set won't work in our EECs. You have to be able to change the gear ratio settings and converter schedules and shift point settings to make the converter lock up. Jerry (formerly of Fordchip) now SCT programs chips that work for our cars that have the 4R70W gear set.

If you stay with the stock AODe ratios and upgrade everything else, clutches, mech diode, shaft, etc the stock EEC works fine.
