Hey guys,

I know 4.10's are the way to go as far as gettin the most performance. But I was wondering about how they do at the track. I've heard rumors that with the different gearing people are actually in mid-shift at the same time they cross the finish line. I believe this would hurt your overall calculated speed. Does anyone have track experience with an '01 and 4.10's to tell me if this is true or not? I have stock 3.27's and am in mid 3rd gear crossing the finish. So I wasn't sure if 3.73's might be a better choice.

Thanks for the input,

Sean

Yep...I have 4.10's and they make me shift into 4th right before I cross the first trap cone at the big end...3.73's are not the way to go as they aren't enough gear...4.30's are actually the best street/strip gear for these cars...4.10's are wonderful if you never hit the strip though, great street gear...

I have a set of 4.56's waiting to go in my car as soon as I get time to get to someone so they can install them for me... :spot:

Yup, with 4.10's your shift right before the traps.....this may lower your mph, but still help your ET's slightly. 4.30's would be good for you since your n/a still. 4.56 if you drag the car often. 4.10's are a great street gear though.
Depends on what the purpose of the car is.

I had 4.10's, but now have 4.30's since I swapped to the Viper T56 which has a lower first gearing.

what do you top out at with 4.30's? I'm thinking about getting them instead of 4.10s this time.

At the traps I was crossing close to redline in 4th....and my MPH was 118. This was on a stock diameter tire....if I had been running a 27" or 28" tall tire out back, it would be good for more MPH if I was capable of it.

Top out at what, top speed? It'll be a little more than stock, not as much as 4.10's...

At the track 4.30's will take you to 120mph before you have to shift to 5th

the 96 with 4.10's was still pullin in 5th gear at around 7300 rpms. the needle was passed 160 by about an inch. someone had posted a chart a while ago and said it is possible to hit 180 with 4.10's, so i guess i did. not gonna do it again. i just thought with 4.30 i would lose top speed, guess not. so you can still shift into 3rd goin 80 and 2nd at 45 with 4.30s and still get through the power band?
