Top Gear on the new Vette (and Ford GT)

  • Sponsors (?)

Wow, they pretty much dogged the whole car. Anyway most will argue it's the best sportscar for the price and hangs with and in some cases outperforms cars that cost 2 and 3 times as much. I like the Vette, the Brits can be complete p&^%ys sometimes.

Top gear is a great show. More independent then any other crap youll watch. Theyll dog anything if it doesnt live up to expectations. I've seen them rip on Ferraris, Lotus, even the Maclaren F1. There reviews are usually pretty damn good. They really put them through the paces, and often have the same driver, take them round the same track, and compare the times between cars.

4 mpg my ass...

What does that mean? The guy ran out of gas on the test track. 4 mpg doing repeated WOT blasts is probably about right. He did note that Ford claimed it would get 12 with more sensible driving.

They made fun of certain aspects of it, but they gave the car its due. It POUNDED the track times of several supercars costing twice as much, and was more in the class of the SLR than the Stradahle. That says volumes about how good it is.

If they only take 28 cars to the UK, and the host of Top Gear is one of the 28 it is a safe bet that he likes the car.

Is that show on in the U.S.? Seen lots of their video clips and i like it. They said the Vette was fun, can you really blame them for bashin the quality of American cars??? Have you looked under the dash on a Mustang??? They don't even finish off the freakin carpet right, "out of sight, out of mind", that is ridiculous... how much more can it possibly cost to seal the carpet all the way up???? Tons of little things like that can be found on american cars.

tell you what tho, those monkeys have the job to die for. gets to drive the car most of us only get to see in magazine all day long, drive the pisss out of it, and even get paid(well very well appearently) for it.
only sucks part of it is, if you gets to drive variation of cars those guys gets to drive, may make them very hard to buy normal car for their wife, because for them to drive say Nissan 350z is like me getting in to old Chevy Citation or something...

These guys drive cars harder than I've ever seen people drive them. They must completely ignore the manufactures warnings of "take it easy with this one" and the like. I remember watching one review (can't remember which car it was), but towards the end the guy made the comment, "Well, these tires are done." Running full tanks of gas out in one session, running a brand new set of tires bald in one session... now that has GOT to be fun!
