I have the Hypertech Power Programmer for my cobra and it rocks! No problems and LOTS of power! :nice:

I wouldn't reccomend the hypertech over the superchips.I have both, and you can pull dtcs with the superchips, and it is for a wide variety of cars whereas the hypertech is more year specific.I have both because my dad sold his 03, and I took the programmer. :D

i might be mistaken but i think the diablo has the most tuning options of the handheld tuners, and ive heard of people getting them for 299, id stay away from hypertech, it doesnt allow for anywhere near the options as the other two, i got the diablo and am very happy with mine

I would recommend the Hypertech over the Superchips (Micro tuner) because I have both and IMO the Hypertech just walks off and leaves the Superchip tuner. Every single person that has been in my car testing both programs (and same mods being tested) have always said that the Hypertech pulls stronger.

Yeah, but the superchips can be used one several years and on a different car than the one that is programmed

You're not talking about the Superchip micro tuner, I trust. Are you comparing the Professional style "Lap top" Superchip custom tuner to the Hypertech programmer?

Next month, I am putting in 3.73 gears. I am leaning towards the predator
tuner. My question is, do all the tuners/programmers have the ability to
correct speedo calibration after a gear swap? Thanks. Mark P.S. Even
with the tuner and needed high octane, do you really "feel" the power?

You trust wrong, I am talking about the Superchips Microtuner. The microtuner pulls the dtcs and displays them so you can see what the problem is.Sure the hypertech can clear them, but unhooking the battery will do the same thing. If it clears tham, how will you know what the problem is?

Then I don't get the part where you make it seem like the Microtuner can be used up and down the street on several cars at the same time? On my Microtuner, it was "VIN Locked" to my car and my car only...just like the Hypertech. But if you're talking about SC's Microtuner DTC reading mode -ONLY- then that's pretty silly since AutoZone will read them for free if that's what you prefer and most people don't buy a "Tuner" to use as a code reader, because you can buy specific code readers for less than the price of a "Tuner". I've seen code readers for $39 on Ebay.

And of course it can display the codes, that's why it tells you to "write" the codes down so you can figure out what the code is...that it just gave you.

Perhaps you missed this...

Works for me.

And since the person that originally asked the question about tuners drives a "2003 automatic sonic blue gt" ...you're wrong to be giving incorrect advice about the Hypertech.

I never unhooked my battery - I read a code about 2 days after I programmed the computer and it gave me a "cold" code, so I removed my 160 stat and put in a 180. Told me exactly what I needed to know.

You obviously read it wrong.I never said you could use it as a programmer on more than one car.I responded to the quote about the dtcs.I didn't say it was a reason to buy it, I said it as an added feature. Why in the hell would you want to go to autozone if you didn't have to?What if autozone is closed or too busy? It's all a matter of opinion.I prefer the superchips over the hypertech and you prefer the opposite. So what. I would rather have the diablosport over both of them, and would rather have a dyno tune over that. :nice:

See, it sounds like Hypertech can't pull DTC's. And you never should have responded about DTC's...
Because it can display the codes.

An added feature that the Hypertech **already** has? So how can it be an added feature for the Microtuner if they both have it?

Why in the hell would you want to go to autozone if you didn't have to?

You read wrong, because the person doesn't "have to" with a 2003.

I prefer the superchips over the hypertech

And you have (or have had) both...right? Then what's up with your "Hypertech" sig?

I still have both, sorry I didn't update my sig just for you. The hypertech that I have doesn't pull dtcs .That is the reason I said that.I didn't know that the newer ones do.My programmer only works for 99-01, whereas your prgrammer only works for 02-04.The superchips works on most 4.6s, not only mustangs, from 96-03 and the 03 cobra. From a resale p.o.v. it would be easier to sell the programmer later if you switched cars. The superchips reads the dtcs on all ford OBDII equipped vehicles, does the hypertech do that?

Don't worry about it.

The hypertech that I have doesn't pull dtcs.

But the person with the 2003 doesn't need to know about *yours* - just about the one for the 2003 that they are buying the tuner for.

I'd rather buy the Hypertech or any other Tuner based on which one met someone's needs the most, not just based on it being "easier" to sell later on.

Did you buy a "Tuner" or a "Reader"? I bought a tuner...but based on the fact that Hypertech tunes for a higher 93 octane fuel and has a SOTP feel *above* the Superchip Microtuner probably close to the difference between the SC over a "stock tune". And it just happens to read codes as a bonus... See, I don't need to worry about a code reader too much since I have a Snap-on MODIS (Scanner/4-Channel Lab Scope/Power Graphing Meter) "work tablet"

:)
