Advise please on LED Taillights

Nitrous Eater,

Looking on MustangsUnlimited & NPD the only electronic flasher units listed are heavy duty ones for sequential lights. Is one of these units suitable for use with LEDs? Do I need to replace both the turn signal flasher & the emergency flasher units? Do they just plug in where the thermal ones did or do they need different wiring?

The sequential ones seem over priced ( 3 times the price of the normal one) - I would have thought that an electronic version would have been cheaper to produce.

Just go to your local autoparts store with flasher in hand. Tell them you want an electronic version.. they'll hook you up. These flasher units are VERY common and were used in not only most fords, but most domestics.. I think mine cost me $7.

I've heard that the LED's weren't as bright in all directions as bulbs. Straight on LED's are brighter, but the further you go off to the side the dimmer they get. Any truth? As I recall part of the reasoning was that bulbs shine in 360 degrees and take advantage of the reflectivity of the tailight housing, while LED's basically shine straight in the direction they are pointing. I haven't seen any installed, but I'd like to get them if this is not true.

the second module plugs in to the turn signal flasher and it was $25.00 I believe. The lights in my opinion are bright enough from what ever viewing angle you are at. Your main concern is when cars are behind you not off to the side. I would rec. this kit to anyone. I am very pleased. when I figure out how to post pic's , I will.
