Kelley Blue Book Editorial Comments on 2005 Ford Mustang: Best Redesigned
Vehicle of 2005
* One of America's most legendary cars is still one of America's
greatest values.
* The 2005 Mustang is a great combination of retro and historic styling
cues on a modern and contemporary vehicle.
* The 2005 Mustang is a rejuvenation of Ford's soul.
* The 2005 Mustang mixes the old and new making America's car desirable
among all age groups.

Those guys must have been smoking some serious crack to make that judgement call.

IMO the 05 is the worst looking Mustang since the Mustang II. They completely ruined the look from the original concept car. It screams UGLY! I was so excited when I saw the concept and when I finally saw the real production model I felt sick to my stomach. Its a total embarrassment. I just pray that they sharpen up the lines and beef up the stance when they release the Cobra.

Two thumbs down for the 05 :notnice: :notnice:

"They must have been smoking crack..."

Ahh, that phrase brings me back to the good old days of army tag at recess. No guff!

Anyway, I'm a bit curious as to why you're so confused by this decision. After all, the criteria were listed:

Kelley Blue Book's criteria for 'Best Redesigned Vehicle' is a vehicle that maintains its existing brand image,

Anyone who looks at this car and can't immediately tell it's a Ford Mustang either lives in Bangladesh or under a rock. Check.

function and purpose,

V8, RWD, rumbling exhaust, 2+2 seating, affordability, good power. These sound like traditional Stang "functions and purposes" to me. Check.

while taking the vehicle to the 'next level' in appearance, comfort, technology and convenience.

Appearance? Ok, so appearance is subjective, but people are lining up to get their hands one of these cars. Check.

Comfort? I haven't sat in one, but anybody with a 99-04 Stang knows that there's really only one way to go in that department. Check.

Technology? Well let's see: completely redesigned chassis, updated suspension, new 3V engine, VVT, 40 more horsepower. Check.

Convenience? Well, if the car was too "convenient" it wouldn't be a Mustang, so we have to be careful with this one. But I believe there is more interior room and the ergonomics have been upgraded considerably. The fit and finish of the interior will be light years ahead of the outgoing model. Check.

Have I missed anything?
